White House restarts talks with Freedom Caucus to repeal Obamacare, NYT reports
and kindly leave Paul Ryan out of the negotiations!
Good. Lets get it right this time. Repeal and replace with something looking like a free market, now, not after some future election.
WASHINGTON — House Republican leaders and the White House, under extreme pressure from conservative activists, have restarted negotiations on legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act, with House leaders declaring that Democrats were celebrating the law’s survival prematurely.
Just days after President Trump said he was moving on to other issues, senior White House officials are now saying they have hope that they can still score the kind of big legislative victory that has so far eluded Mr. Trump. Vice President Mike Pence was dispatched to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for lunchtime talks.
“We’re not going to retrench into our corners or put up dividing lines,” House Speaker Paul D. Ryan said after a meeting of House Republicans that was dominated by a discussion of how to restart the health negotiations. “There’s too much at stake to get bogged down in all of that.”
The House Republican whip, Steve Scalise of Louisiana, said of Democrats, “Their celebration is premature. We are closer to repealing Obamacare than we ever have been before.”

“Restart” after being stopped for the weekend? These negotiations rarely take place on weekends, so the talks never stopped.

Did the Freedom Caucus just pull the Republican Party back off the ledge, before it jumped to its death? A case can be made for that.

I hope he’s saying something along the lines of, “You write it then, and make it something the moderates will also agree to.”
I hope the FC and President Trump simply focus on a couple of the items in Donald Trump's seven-point health care reform plan from his 2016 campaign:
1. Completely repeal Obamacare, including the individual mandate.
2. Enable consumers to buy insurance across state lines.
3. Exclude all health insurance premiums from taxation, not just employer-sponsored insurance.
4. Allow individuals to use Health Savings Accounts.
5. Require price transparency from all healthcare providers.
6. Block-grant Medicaid to the states.
7. Allow U.S. consumers to buy drugs from overseas.
I know everyone wants #1, but I could accept the notion that this is not politically feasible in one fell swoop.
To me, #3, #4 and #6 should be no-brainers. I think #2 seems very feasible, but I don't know what kind of different state interests might put pressure on their representatives in Washington to fight this.

The basic problem was that Paul RINO refused to negotiate with the real conservatives . Rino ended up with a very bad bill. ( I don’t think Trump understood it!! He really needs NEWT in the white House fast!) Did you know, for example, that your bloated premiums under obamacare would not go down. Not 1 dime!! Did you know that part of that bloated premium helped cover people that don’t pay.That is not fair!! Did you know that the so called “Tax credit”. was not a tax credit at all but a transfer payment from the US treasury even if they don’t pay any taxes. That bill stunk!!
Ryan and the RINOs have no intention of repealing Obamacare.
They are the attendants of Fedzilla and Fedzilla derives great power from controlling all health care decisions and medical records.
They will try to preserve as much of Obamacare as they possibly can to preserve that power for Fedzilla.
They serve Fedzilla, not the citizens.
Put up a bill for a complete repeal. Let it get voted down. This will put everyone on record. Then come back with whatever can get passed.
Make it clear the end goal is repeal and that we are just trying to polish off parts of the turd as best we can - not replace it. And that the turd is still completely owned by the dims.
