Gunfire rang out Monday afternoon in a home in Broken Arrow, an Oklahoma city 15 miles southeast of Tulsa. Three intruders were killed after the son of the homeowner fired a semiautomatic rifle in what local law enforcement officers later described as an act of self-defense, though their investigation remains open.

They don’t travel all that far after hitting something.
“Those rounds travel a long way.”
Maybe then can, but in this instance they didn’t have to “travel” very far at all.
And she's had lots of burritos, evidently.
“if sued” and “while a suit may be brought” are a very long way from “cannot be sued”. When it comes to the US court system accuracy is crucial. Telling someone they cannot be sued is flat out wrong and if that advice is taken literally could result in a legal disaster.
Maybe they’re outsourcing...
When I lived in OK, I knew a lot of people who looked like this girl. They have both European and American Indian heritage (Muskogee Creek, Choctaw or Cherokee). Too many of the younger ones live on welfare, and have babies (this girl included) that grow up like weeds and become low-life criminals. Sad ending.
If they are inside your home, kill them. You cannot know if they put their shotgun down at the front door and are running to retrieve it. Think about it ... accomplices with firearms might be on watch and the perp is retreating to their position.
Thanks. A hunting round would be my pick, too.
Good shooting, Citizen. Civilization thanks you.
Many years ago, I was in a bar in OK City. There were about 12 guys at the bar, all wearing cowboy boots.
One of them reached into his boot for his wallet.
At least 4 other guys reached into their boots at the same time until they saw the guys wallet, then went back to their drinks.
That’s Oklahoma....
Died in commission of their crime, they got all the process they were due.
“...Like to see what a 7.62x39 would do.”
Less than a 5.56x45mm Ball M193 at all ranges inside 547 yds (55gr FMJ boat-tail at 4350 ft/sec muzzle velocity).
Peter G Kokalis, one of the foremost authorities on small arms field effectiveness, rated the M193 round as more effective than both 7.62x51mm NATO Ball M80 and US 30M2 Ball (WWII 30-06 round, tailored to M1 Garand), inside ranges of 109 yd. Traveling at much higher velocities, the 5.56mm bullet goes unstable on hitting the target, yaws and breaks up, expending a greater amount of its energy inside the target. The 7.62mm and 30 cal rounds simply punch through.
Outside 109 yd, the situation reverses.
“...55gr FMJ boat-tail at 4350 ft/sec muzzle velocity ...”
Confound all typos.
“4350” should read “3250”: roughly 1000 m/sec.
Do I need a /s?
Then add at least three handguns and we've got a minimal spec for a basic firearm collection:
Long guns:
1) A general purpose shotgun that can fill the niche of home defense (barrel no longer than 26").
2) A general purpose .22lr rifle.
3) A general purpose centerfire rifle.
Handguns:
1) A CCW handgun.
2) A "fighting" handgun.
3) A general purpose .22lr handgun.
So yeah, three long guns. Three handguns too is pretty basic. Keep in mind every adult in the household needs their own CCW piece, at least.
Sorry for hijacking the thread but just sayin'.
They all be jubeniles, which complicates matters.
To clarify, two of them are juveniles. One of them was 18 or 19. I think the holdup also has to do with notification of kin, etc but especially with two of them being teenage yutes they’re not going to release the names until tomorrow, is what I heard as I was driving thru Tulsa today going from one place to the other.
Down here, if they break in they're presumed to be armed and they're paid for if they're wearing masks or if they outnumber you.
Texas has a law explicitly stating that you have the right to shoot them if they're "under the cover of darkness", with the rationale being that if it's dark you can't see their weapon until it's too late.
She is a mother of 3?? The dad (or dads) must have been on something to have sex with that...
