Democrat Jon Ossoff Is Gaining Ground in Georgia Special Election to Replace Tom Price
New York Magazine ^ | March 24, 2017 | Ed Kilgore

The collapse of Republican efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare was bad news for Donald Trump’s HHS secretary, Tom Price, who will have to deal with bitter recriminations between his old friends in the House and his new boss in the White House.

But you know what would make Price feel a whole lot worse? Being replaced in the House by a Democrat.

For the first time, Democratic hopes of picking off this seat, once occupied by Senator Johnny Isakson, and before that by Newt Gingrich, are beginning to look like something more than wishful thinking. With the first round of the “jungle primary” fast approaching on April 18, Democratic candidate (and former congressional staffer) Jon Ossoff is no longer just an incredibly well-funded neophyte likely to make a runoff against the survivor of an internecine battle between Republicans. He’s now clearly competitive in the runoff as well as the first round.

It's the most hilarious political ad I've ever seen.

Dude's a bit festive.

I’m in this district. Ossoff commercials are on 24-7. His radio ads are non-stop. I was listening to Pandora at work and up pops Ossoff ad. He has saturated the market. Republicans didn’t take him seriously. I have yet to see a Handel ad. Moody has a few spots but if these guys are waiting for the runoff to spend money they might not get a chance.

Big shame - this Ossoff comes across like an Anthony Weiner -
skeevy and smarmy.

And Hillary has the Presidency in her pocket. I live in Ga and used to live in Roswell. I think these liberals are simply whistling in the wind.

Right. I’m not buying this one, either.

If we can make it to a runoff Handel will win. Last polling had Ossoff at 41. That’s a long way to 50.1 but if you were witnessing the total saturation of ads from this guy with little rebutted you’d be a bit nervous too.

Hillary thought she didn’t need to campaign in MI and WI. That didn’t work out too well for her either. You got to ask people for their vote, not take for granted you got it.

Yes, but Obey won (by a very narrow margin) not due to national politics, but because the GOP Governor had jacked up the sales tax and Obey (then a state legislator) rode its unpopularity to victory.

Gilligan-Sebelius was the sitting Governor of KS when Zero made her HHS Secretary.

My mistake. I didn’t think she was pulled directly from the governor’s office. Thanks for that correction. My apology.

Yeah, she was looking for an “out”, since winning a Senate race in KS wasn’t going to happen (no Democrat has won a Senate race there since 1932).

Ossoff is 30 years old, looks 12, doesn’t live in the district, and has tons of outside money. He’ll be in the runoff, but there’s no way he wins the district. This is still Newt’s old GA 6th. It isn’t as solidly conservative as it was, but it’s still pretty good, especially when you consider it’s a special election. The hard core who always show up and vote in this district tend to be old conservative Republicans.

Although unlikely this twerp will win, Hillary only lost this district to Trump by 1.5% (48.3-46.8%). Rich RINOs crossed over to vote for her, as the execrable Socialist Willard carried the same district in 2012 over Zero by over 23% (61-38%).
