Ted Poe, Freedom Caucus Dropout: 'Saying No Is Easy'

Texas U.S. Rep. Ted Poe quit the conservative House Freedom Caucus on Sunday after lawmakers failed to pass a bill to replace the Affordable Care Act two days before.

Poe had prepared to vote for the Republican American Health Care Act, which was ultimately pulled from the House floor when Republicans learned they did not have enough votes to pass it, reported Fox News. Poe said he was unhappy with the caucus opposition to the bill.

"To deliver on the conservative agenda we have promised the American people for eight years, we must come together to find solutions to move this country forward," said Poe, per Fox.

"Saying no is easy, leading is hard, but that is what we were elected to do. Leaving this caucus will allow me to be a more effective member of Congress and advocate for the people of Texas. It is time to lead."

Not interested in whose fault what was or not.

Anytime spent telling me why you couldn’t get it done is time spent on still not getting it done.

Get. It. Done.

So tell us Ted, just how would passage of this crap bill have been “leading?” Guess you aren’t a real conservative after all.

Didn’t they pass a great bill a year or two ago, that Obama vetoed?

Is there some reason Ryan can’t pass that bill again? Other than he knows/fears now it would actually be signed by the sitting President.

Why? He is the only stand up member of the Freedom Caucus. Nice to see there is one man who thinks for himself. The rest of them do what they are told

Now the Dems are pushing “single payer healthcare” as the Dems are given the moniker as the “Action Party” and Reps as the “Do Nothing Party” by the phony news and MSM.

You think this won’t have an effect? It WILL.

F Caucus now messed up EVERYTHING - will the wall be more easier now, or more difficult? How about the tax cuts? More difficult now or easier?

How about Single Payer as the Dems are projected as the Action Party? More or less likely?

Single payer is now more likely, the wall and tax cuts less likely. In fact the Dems will now say we must raise taxes to “stop the disaster of the Trump economy”, as Americans look at their IRAs and 401ks nose dive, do you think they might be convinced that tax increases and single payer is the “solution”?

The F Caucus handed the Dems a YUGE win, exactly the opposite of what some said will likely pan out as Obamacare further implodes it will be blamed on Trump for NOT raising taxes, for deregulation, et all, Dems will be turned into heroes by the MSM and Reps into DC slugs who do nothing.

F Caucus gave Hillary another day to live and come back. Obama still gets his agenda. Thanks F Caucus you 20 idiots. Just watch when Yellen raises the interest rate 1%, watch things really start to dive next.

Hope you’re not in credit card debt.

So tell us Ted, just how would passage of this crap bill have been “leading?”

It was a crap bill. But Trump got behind it and went with Ryan as his Congressional lead. So you ended up with two choices: The crap bill or a neutered, politically weakened President Trump. You didn’t get the crap bill, but you did get a much weaker President Trump (partly his own damned fault of course, for hanging his hat on Ryan). But we live with what we get. The weakened Trump makes 2018 and 2020 look like a blood bath...and single payer the ONLY option left that can pass to replace Obamacare. Free market won’t make it, the Governing Establishment will NEVER return to the free market. American voters would go bat shit crazy if they ever tried to go to free market again.

So, Ted, are you going to lead the effort to re-introduce the Bill that Barky vetoed in 2015?

The reason is there is little support. Jim Jordan, Rand, etc. are great at flapping his gums on TV. Not so great at gathering support for their healthcare bill. So we’re left with nothing after the freedom caucus’ arson. Make no mistake: opposition to this bill from likes of never Trumpers like Mike Lee and Mark Sanford was primarily to damage POTUS and make him a one termer.

How can politics alone, justify passing such a horrible bill as proposed by the GOP leadership? The Bill could not have stood scrutiny on its merits.

Now, all of a sudden, “go along to get along” justifies some bigger re-election goals? I am sorry, it doesn’t.

"To deliver on the conservative agenda we have promised the American people for eight years, we must come together to find solutions to move...

Bullcrap - Trump was not elected to advance the conservatism of the Heritage, Trade, or any other such group. He was elected by bunch of Americans not belonging to any group but wanting a better America. This included a pile of Democrats who liked 'the cut of his jib' in defeating the roster of Republicans and rejected Hillary. Trump was more a populist than a conservative. Good ideas are where you find them. They aren't always 'conservative' or 'liberal'. Deal with the Democrats Be above politics. Represent us.

So, wiseacre, you got a whip count on that bill? Freedom Caucus is 30 out of 435 House members. Do the math, Einstein.

Keep POTUS’s agenda on track isn’t worthy? The Wall, trade, tax reform, etc.? The people you apparently support just made all that much more difficult. Think big picture here, FRiend.

Less support than there was in '15?

Better question is how much the Koch Bros. paid the others to stay and obstruct the agenda of POTUS.

“..and single payer the ONLY option left that can pass to replace Obamacare. “

How do you figure? The GOPe in the Congress should just go back to work and do what they all promised us they would, and start with a full repeal of Obolacare. But I agree that the RINO wing has surely gotten busy early working to return the Republicans to the minority party as quickly as they can.

Yes, isn’t it ‘interesting” how when they know something will not be signed by the President into law, they have no trouble passing it, but now that it would really take effect, these a$$holes loose their backbones and testicles all at once.
