Trump to Deep-Six Clean Power Plan

This is an excellent example of why it is important to have the presidency in sane hands: (EPA chief: Trump to undo Obama plan to curb global warming)

President Donald Trump in the coming days will sign a new executive order that unravels his predecessor’s sweeping plan to curb global warming, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency said Sunday.

EPA chief Scott Pruitt said the executive order to be signed Tuesday will undo the Obama administration’s Clean Power Plan, an environmental regulation that restricts greenhouse gas emissions at coal-fired power plants. The 2015 rule has been on hold since last year while a federal appeals court considers a challenge by coal-friendly Republican-led states and more than 100 companies.

Implementation of the plan has been stayed by a federal court, but some states have gone ahead and implemented its provisions regardless.

Speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” Pruitt said Trump’s intention is to bring back coal-mining jobs and reduce the cost of electricity.

Remember when candidate Barack Obama said that his policies would cause the cost of electricity to skyrocket? They did.

It's stories like this I like to forward to friends that are saying Trump can't get anything done and we might as well have Hillary/Obama. There is a WHOLE LOT that is going on behind the scenes. As Obama demonstrated with immigration law, the laws on the books are written so loosely a President and Cabinet Secretary can essentially interpret them any way they want. Now, while it would be nice to have legislative changes as they are certainly more permanent, 14 Trump cabinet secretaries are busy gutting the regulatory state. And while some could be reversed under a future democrat administration, many cannot. For instance, once the Keystone Pipeline permits have been issued, the pipeline is built, and oil is flowing. A democrat can't very well, revoke the permits, reverse the oil flow, and unbuild the pipeline.

It never made economic sense to close a coal plant here in the US and build two more in China and India. This hare brained scheme has already cost the US economy billions.

If coal is so bad, the plants could have been phased out at the end of their useful life span. There was never any need for hysteria.

BTW, if there were a need for hysteria, Algore and the Hollywood elite should be leading by example: flying commercial and living in modest houses.

Trump’s actions are more conservative than the policies of Bush 41 and 43. We have Jeff Sessions as AG. The HFC are being tougher on Trump than they were on Obama. You can bet there will be a major fight on raising the debt limit.

I agree. While I don’t think the HFC has a decided role in the overall conduct simply because they aren’t enough of a significant number to do anything but block because of how the ideological numbers shake out on Republican/Democrat sides.

Regardless, I’ve been an engineer all my life since graduation - near 40 years, and I was much older than normal graduates when I started. I have been in LA and seen the smog and filth in the old days. I’ve been in most large cities and have seen the pollution - quite a while ago.

What I see now is a SUBSTANTIVE pittance of what was before. That was science doing good things and not political things like the bullshit carbon credit crap of today.

I remember smokestacks in the pulp plant I worked and the misting scrubbers we put in - they cut that problem in the air more than you can know. Much much more. But THEY weren’t satisfied. Because socialism, communism and everything else failed, the only thing available to them was this BS global warming/climate change/we don’t like it crap.

Their goal is taxation however they can implement it to conduct their entitlement progression. The last thing they actually care about is the ‘environment.’

“The last thing they actually care about is the ‘environment.’”

The eviros encampment in the Dakotas proved that. What a huge mess they left behind.
