Trump taps Kushner to lead a SWAT team to fix government with business ideas
Washington Post ^ | March 27, 2017 | Ashley Parker, Philip Rucker

Posted on 03/26/2017 11:22:01 PM PDT by Pinkbell

President Trump plans to unveil a new White House office on Monday with sweeping authority to overhaul the federal bureaucracy and fulfill key campaign promises — such as reforming care for veterans and fighting opioid addiction — by harvesting ideas from the business world and, potentially, privatizing some government functions. The White House Office of American Innovation, to be led by Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and senior adviser, will operate as its own nimble power center within the West Wing and will report directly to Trump.

Viewed internally as a SWAT team of strategic consultants, the office will be staffed by former business executives and is designed to infuse fresh thinking into Washington, float above the daily political grind and create a lasting legacy for a president still searching for signature achievements.

Kushner is positioning the new office as “an offensive team” — an aggressive, nonideological ideas factory capable of attracting top talent from both inside and outside of government, and serving as a conduit with the business, philanthropic and academic communities.

“We should have excellence in government,” Kushner said Sunday in an interview in his West Wing office. “The government should be run like a great American company. Our hope is that we can achieve successes and efficiencies for our customers, who are the citizens.”

The innovation office has a particular focus on technology and data, and it is working with such titans as Apple chief executive Tim Cook, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Salesforce chief executive Marc Benioff and Tesla founder and chief executive Elon Musk. The group has already hosted sessions with more than 100 such leaders and government officials.

With the failure of this clunker of a bill, the Ryan/GOPe/RINO gang in Congress have been exposed.

There are other bills & proposals out there.

Remember, President Trump walked away from this bad deal.

Any other R president would’ve caved.

He walked away from the deal because that’s what happens when a bill is introduced that can’t get passed. But he’s vowing to now work with the Dems and threatening to primary the conservatives.

Not a good look at all.

This guy is a legitimate genius. What a powerhouse, and how propitious and even serendipitous that he should be Trump's son-in-law?!

LOL! "God blessed us" with this guy? C'mon. Over-the-top. Spare us, please. Kushner, Trump and their entourage are merely new faces playing the same old game in the same old swamp. Before the election, wasn't the general consensus on this site to support Trump while recognizing that the man is NOT a conservative, and therefore holding him politically accountable when his leftist impulses rise to the fore? He is not entitled to uncritical support from conservatives regardless of his actions. Lately this site seems to be awash with shills who browbeat posters unhappy with some of the acts of the Trump administration.

Trump needs political insiders around him that know he ins and outs of DC politics. A Dick Cheney, a Newt or a Giulianni would be a good start.

Agree .. and I'd vote for Cheney!!

What the Double FUCK are you talking about???

Apparently you don't know much about business ethics as applied to the President. Such an arrangement would never have happened in the corporate cultures I worked in as a staff member: GE, Dupont, Sybron, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

You're letting your ignorance supersede your language capabilities.

I’m growing increasingly uncomfortable with the nepotism in the Trump administration. This isn’t what we voted for.

Keep snivelling. It makes no difference to me if you choose to soil yourself publicly. Just don't think you and your couple of shills are fooling anyone with your "principled indignation." I thought your phoenetic name was "blather not."

Go figure.

LMAO!!! You're quite funny, with an eye for understated irony. Quite my cup of humoristic tea. Well 'ard, mate.

LOL! Most obnoxious post of the thread, congratulations! Such blind (and crude) defense does no credit to the Trump/Kushner brigade.

It doesn’t matter who Trump taps.

Trump is now finished.

No one supports Trump after last Friday.

He’s dome.

I may get scolded for saying this, but these are my thoughts. I wish Jared and Ivanka would go home, raise their kids, and come see Dad for dinner a couple of nights a week.

Both of them are liberals with liberal agendas that I fear have the potential to cause tremendous damage to his Presidency. No one doubts that Jared is intelligent, especially if he was the brains behind Trump’s win but the campaign is over.

The President can not afford to distance himself from the GOP regardless of who is at fault. He’s leaning left when he should lean right.

Good luck trying to browbeat others into thanking God for Jared Kushner, LOL! If Trump wants conservative support, he needs to earn it. If you don’t like that, too bad.

Kushner is a solid part of his admin. and has been since the beginning. I dont care what you think would work or not in the corp. world. If you have nothing to add that is relevant sit back and listen.

Yeah, man. That's, like, probably how he won the White House, huh? Say, you're like really smart and stuff.

Yes, I am afraid, "we" kind of did... if we had paid a slightest bit of attention to anything about The Family except the "glamour" of Trump women and his Art of the Deal "business genius" which left numerous Trump enterprises — outside of few of his old core real estate holdings which were acquired while Fred Trump was still alive (approximately 40% of his RE and branded assets are within Manhattan) — in bankruptcy or in default.

Jared Kushner is the "perfect man" for the job — he, like the Trumps, understands bigly the private benefits and "art" of the public-private partnership (PPP, aka The Third Way). Expect PPP (sold as "privatization," possibly using public domain power of the government) to be the "Big Idea" coming from Jaret Kushner.

This is essentially what I am starting to expect:

Jared and Ivanka will continue to pull Trump to the left (trashing the Freedom Caucus after his first, horrible and leftist legislative initiative), which will lead to the Dems taking the House in 2018.

Impeachment proceedings will start right after that, with Ivanka and Jared given them enough conflict of interest/enrichment material to use as fodder for their charges.

If Trump doesn’t turn himself around quickly, I think his admin will be ineffective and over before we know what hit us.
