Texas Republican Ted Poe Quits Freedom Caucus Over Their #NeverTrump Intransigence…
Conservative Treehouse ^

Posted on 03/26/2017 2:50:01 PM PDT by hotsteppa

Texas Republican Congressman Ted Poe has announced he is giving up membership in Hillary’s Favorite Caucus over their unwillingness to support President Trump:

“I have resigned from the House Freedom Caucus,” Poe said in a statement. “In order to deliver on the conservative agenda we have promised the American people for eight years, we must come together to find solutions to move this country forward. Saying no is easy, leading is hard, but that is what we were elected to do.

Leaving this caucus will allow me to be a more effective Member of Congress and advocate for the people of Texas. It is time to lead.” “Some only want to be the party of ‘no’ & would’ve voted against the 10 commandments,”

Congressman Poe’s exit from #NeverTrump leaves 29 remaining members.

Agree with you 100%, TG. Some believe the purpose of politicians is to cast votes. Others believe politicians are actually supposed to accomplish something. Voting ‘the right way,’ while assiduously maintaining the status quo is a DC art form for the pseudo conservatives.

It’s a classic DC game, actually. The fake conservatives please their Uniparty handlers by making sure only Leftism is advanced, and then they turn around and parade their great conservative ‘scores,’ to gullible constituents.

And the pro-government Leftist shills do their part to prop up and legitimize this stupid, deceitful game.

Trump (a New York SOCIALIST) So ... Just HOW STUPID ARE the “Low-Information Voters” ???? “

With your low opinion of us, I’m surprised to see you’re still here.

Sundance made a compelling arguement in a previous post, that in effect,, with regards to the congressional GOP, there are no good guys and there are no bad guys. They`re all, with few exceptions, bad guys. That may sound harsh, but I would encourage people to give it some consideration.
Criticizing the freedom caucus isn`t the same as agreeing with Ryan. Perhaps Poe is one of the few good guys struggling to find a way out of a no win situation.

To summarize Sundance`s arguement, he points out that the freedom caucus supported, and continues to support Ryan for speaker. If you hold that position, how committed are you, really, to supporting conservative principles?

Think outside the box, people. The Uniparty is still alive and well. This is the same kabuki dance we`ve been seeing for years from the GOP. It`s the political version of good cop, bad cop. The `conservative` faction stands up for conservative principles, then shrugs and says `We tried.` when they don`t suceed; and all while continuing to support the guy who made it impossible for them to suceed.

Don`t fall for the simplistic narrative the GOP is setting up for you.

Proves beyond a shadow of a doubt to even the dullest among us who hadn’t already figured it out that our Government in DC is PROFOUNDLY broken and can only perpetuate itself, grow larger, never provide solutions, and only cause problems.

It’s time for Trump to stop the nonsense and start ruling like a combination of Lincoln/Pinochet on steroids.

This is a National Emergency.

The Koch Brothers are the money behind the House Freedom Caucus.

In the effort to sink the Republican health care bill, a powerful network of conservative donors said that it would create a new fund for Republican 2018 reelection races — but they’ll only open it up to GOPers who vote against the bill.

The advocacy groups helmed by Charles and David Koch have unveiled a new pool of money for advertisements, field programs and mailings that would exclude those who vote for the health care bill they oppose. The effort, which they described as worth millions of dollars, is an explicit warning to on-the-fence Republicans from one of the most influential players in electoral politics not to cross them.
The Koch-aligned networks oppose the bill because they think it does not do enough to scale back former President Barack Obama’s health care policies.
“We want to make certain that lawmakers understand the policy consequences of voting for a law that keeps Obamacare intact,” Americans for Prosperity president Tim Phillips said. “We have a history of following up and holding politicians accountable, but we will also be there to support and thank the champions who stand strong and keep their promise.”

"They also gladly voted for Ryan to be Speaker."

Wrong!

The Freedom Caucus ousted Boehner.

The Freedom Caucus did not endorse Ryan for Speaker.

“After what just happened, why would the FC not call for Ryan’s ouster? If Ryancare was so bad [it was] then why are they not already pushing for a better/more conservative Speaker?”

Great question?

Was he part of their plan?

The endorsement was a technicality. The FC gave Ryan a super-majority initially, and for his reelection, they gave him an even higher percentage/level of support

Wow. Looks like 2018 is going to be devestating for the GOP and Trump. He’s already a lame duck President and his party is in full colapse and the coalition that elected him feels betrayed. And Trump acomplished this in just 2 months. What a bust.

I like your question also. I’d phrase it this way, ‘If Ryan *isnt* part of the FC’s plan, then why aren’t they calling for his ouster?’

Trump is not a typical politician/person. He’s resourceful. Anyone writing him off this quickly is shortsighted at best.
