We Need an Independent Investigation of the Trump Leaks Mystery Now
PJ Media ^ | MARCH 25, 2017 | Roger Simon

Posted on 03/26/2017 8:05:49 AM PDT by The_Media_never_lie

The detective story of our times is unspooling before us and the MacGuffin could affect all of our lives for years to come and the very nature of our republic.

That mystery is "whodunit" in the great Trump Transition leak(s) scandal that actually pre- and post-dates the transition itself.

Who unmasked Michael Flynn and -- so it seems now -- others and why did he, she or they do it? Who later leaked (selectively) President Trump's conversations with the leaders of Australia and Mexico? Is this the same person or are there several?

More importantly, who is watching the watchers and why was their work -- this raw data that supposedly is never seen except on the most extreme "need to know" basis -- apparently so widely distributed? Who inspired this? And who ordered what is known as a "tasking" to enable this to happen in the first place?

There is so much lying and deceit going on regarding this important story, even though it is "inadvertent" lying and deceit. The FBI and IRS have been politicized, and lie to and mislead the Congress and the American people without consequences.

Is this not what is happening?

I want to know where Jeff Sessions is. I think he is still our AG??? He hasn’t recused himself from the Trump spying investigation, has he???

Fox has reported (Sara Carter and other guests) the DOJ hasn’t opened an investigation into the revelations made by Nunes.

Come out of hiding Sessions.

Don't investigate it with something like the nine-eleven commission. The Dem members were attack dogs protecting Clinton, including Jamie Girekick who "built the wall" that prevented the FBI and NSA from sharing information. Republican members were squishy let's-all-get-along types.

For reasons I cannot understand I think that Gorelick works for President Trump now. He needs a long-time Freeper with a good memory to help him vet people. He was busy building skyscrapers and golf courses while we were watching C-Span and reading Freerepublic. :)

Looks like the entire Republican party including the Administration is corrupt to the hilt. Can not decide which is worse, Democrats or Republicans. Where is Sessions on setting up an investigation. What is holding the Republicans up. Are they so divided that the only hope is President Trump to cuss them out and take measures to kick ars.

It is an important story and it is intensifying. It is not going away.

It’s truly odd that the media/Dems are not concerned about the leaks which are REAL (nobody doubts they happened) — yet they spend all this time chasing a red herring (the fake Trump-Russia connection).

Special prosecutors, not Congressional hearings, no matter how “blue ribbon” they’re made to seem.

We ned an investigator who can file charges, right on the spot, when the need arises (as it certainly will).

Enough with the dog-and-pony shows by Congress. Both sides of the aisle swim in the same swamp.

We are in this horrible situation of unending high crimes and felonies (Fast and Furious, IRS and other agency abuses, the Clinton Crime Family, etc.) along with destructive whisper campaigns against President Trump because the ages-old institution of the Grand Jury to investigate senior politicians has been tossed aside.

When evidence of wrongdoing appears, each and every one of the aforementioned unresolved crimes or scandals should have been referred to a Grand Jury, preferably in the heartland, for investigation.

Having sat on a county Grand Jury, I can write without hesitation that its powers of investigation are enormous and independent.

Also, Jacquerie, I notice that all Grand Jury proceedings are immediately smothered with a “gag” order and nothing more is heard until an indictment is handed up, if ever.

I think the public has a God-given right to know everything that’s going on, especially when tax dollars are involved. But then, I’m an old-school reporter with ethics, which makes me a dinosaur.

I agree that Grand Juries should be empaneled for dozens of cases now before the Court of Public Opinion.

Well, they were public in republican Rome.

In Florida, there is no judicial gag order. Grand Jury testimony and deliberations are kept under wraps by law. IIRC, since testimony is taken without the presence of a lawyer, and the jury can go wherever it wants, some embarrassing yet non-pertinent material can arise that needn’t be in the public record.
