They Adopted Refugee Families for 12 Months. Then Came ‘Month 13.’
The New York Times ^ | MARCH 25, 2017 | Jodi Kantor and Catrin Einhorn

Posted on 03/25/2017 5:52:28 AM PDT by Johnny Diamond

One year after Canada embraced Syrian refugees like no other country, a reckoning was underway.

Ordinary Canadians had essentially adopted thousands of Syrian families, donating a year of their time and money to guide them into new lives just as many other countries shunned them. Some citizens already considered the project a humanitarian triumph; others believed the Syrians would end up isolated and adrift, stuck on welfare or worse. As 2016 turned to 2017 and the yearlong commitments began to expire, the question of how the newcomers would fare acquired a national nickname: Month 13, when the Syrians would try to stand on their own.

Trying to drop someone from a backward nation with no education & no skills into a 21st century nation was always foolish.

Are you referring to recent graduates of high schools in Democrat run metropolitan centers?

The Leftist believe in feeding a hungry man for the day. The Self-Reliant believe in teaching the man to fish.

Key difference: they went to church.

There is something inherent in Islam that it’s hard for us to grasp. The root of how they view sin affects everything. When they sin it’s the fault of the temptation-so there are laws requiring women to be covered, banning alcohol, etc. There really isn’t a concept of personal responsibility and accountability because nothing is ever their fault.

Just my opinion, but the drive for self sufficiency and personal responsibility is encouraged by a belief in original sin and accountability to a just and merciful God. A belief in a vengeful god and capricious fate, along with an engrained mentality of blaming others for your mistakes will never bring people to contribute rather than take.

Well, yeah.

Canada has experienced waves of immigrants/refugees over the centuries. What no one will say is that all the other waves were mainly white European Christians who could not easily return to the countries they came from. These people were determined to assimilate, and they did.

The non white/non Christian immigrants were mainly Asian. They might have had more problems with assimilation but, have you ever seen a Chinese family on welfare?

Non white immigrants, until very recently, consisted of fugitive slaves from the US. Imagine what it took to literally flee hundreds of miles with only the clothes on your back. These people spoke English, many were Christian, and there was no welfare to accept back then. They assimilated.

Lefties everywhere are lunatics. Just why aren’t they institutionalized for civil societies’ good?

-—“...a continued d $1,800-a-month government subsidy...”-—

Good to see our northern neighbors have copied the freebies that bring scum by the bucketloads .... free cash !
Their ‘childrens SALARY’ is equal to the American SSI of about $800.00 per child that promotes these leeches churning out as much spawn as they can as fast as they can. You could actually call children cash-cows cause that’s what they are.

The entire article is worth reading. It’s the NYTimes so you know it doesn’t contain the whole truth and everything works out.

But the lesson learned is that “refugees” are learning how to game the system from other “refugees.” We’re going to need another wall.

I do like Canada’s sponsorship system. It would be a huge wakeup call for the nutty liberals in America.

How long before one of the Hajjes kids chops off their sponsor’s head?

WHOAAAAAAAAAAA WHAT????

That's way more than I make in a month. Steam coming out of my ears now.

This morning I hear on the news that NYS will use taxpayers money for legal services for illegals.

I must stop paying taxes. I sure can use that money.

36 and he left his father and other family in Syria? Coward.

...

Well, he has young children so he knows he’ll be getting welfare for many years — the “children’s salary.” But the article indicates his father’s been calling and demanding some of that free infidel money.

Something else that baffles me is why these Syrians would ever want to migrate to Canada at all. It is cold as all sh!t up there for long stretches of the year. Putting a Syrian in Canada is like putting a human on Jupiter.

I’d hate to be the sponsor who has to give them notice that the free money has run dry.

My great grandfather and his twin brother came to the US when they were18 and not speaking English. They got homesteads, worked hard and ab Muslim countries ove all immediately started to learn English and become Americans. Other than the homesteads they received no government aid. I cherish a 100 year old letter written by my great grandfather to his daughter and marvel at its perfect English, proper grammar, spelling and punctuation....a feat many graduates of our modern public schools could not master.

These immigrants are products of backward Muslim societies kept in the 6th century by sharia law. They have been taught to hate the west and that their goal is to convert the world to Islam by any means even killing. We are fools to think that bringing them to the west and giving them handouts they will integrate into western society or even be greatful

I know this is Canaduh, but we’ve got the same issue. Any able-bodied male who wouldn’t stay and fight for his own country has no business living in mine.

Good post. So, how were all those Chinese immigrants so different than today’s muzzies?

What social traits allowed them and others ethnicities to come, work, assimilate peacefully, succeed, prosper? Sure, they have their districts, as most immigrant groups do (who doesn’t miss home?) But those districts aren’t deadly hostile to outsiders.

We all know why — the Quran, their marching orders, their heart.

Who would have ever guessed allowing mass immigration of violent, theocratic, misogynistic, homophobic closet cases wasn’t such a good idea.

The above average intelligence half of this country needs to engage our representatives, at all levels. With knowledge, reason, strength and conviction. Regularly. Face to face. Demanding change. No backing down.

...of the people, by the people and for the people.
