Disgusting: The Freedom Caucus Saves Obamacare Again
american spectator ^ | David Catron

Posted on 03/25/2017 5:33:48 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

AHCA was pulled from the floor yet again this afternoon, and it now is probable that Obamacare will be the law of the land for years to come. This is an utter disaster for U.S. health care, not to mention individual liberty, and the responsibility rests squarely on shoulders of a small cadre of political opportunists with the effrontery to call themselves the “House Freedom Caucus.”

These people held out for the impossible — full repeal of Obamacare in one fell swoop — and have thus destroyed the only realistic opportunity their party will have in the near future to eradicate the law’s individual and employer mandates, enact entitlement reform, expand HSAs, defund Planned Parenthood, halt the metastasis of Medicaid, and cut its myriad taxes.

Moreover, they have made a mockery of their group’s name by perpetuating the increasingly oppressive and powerful administrative state, leaving their constituents to the tender mercies of Beltway bureaucrats whose contempt for the taxpayers who support them is exceeded only by the breathtaking incompetence with which they mismanage everything they touch.

Isn’t Paul Ryan’s hubris really to blame. The Soros tool presented an insurance industry written bill with almost no conservative features and offered it to his members (all of whom campaigned on repealing Obamacare) as a fait accompli. Remember his comment to Rand Paul’s request that Ryan negotiate in good faith with conservatives: “It’s a binary choice young man.” Ryan and Trump asked conservatives to commit electoral hari kari by supporting a bill which offered nothing that the GOP had promised voters.

Let’s place the blame where it belongs - on Ryan’s arrogance and incompetence. We should remind Trump who supported him in the primaries and general election -grassroots conservatives.

Odd. I was not under the impression that President Trump was the type to give up at the first setback. Perhaps I'm wrong, and he became a billionaire by being a quitter, but I think it is more likely that he will come back to this issue with more leverage later. I hope he will have a better bill when he does "we tried it your way, RINOs, but that failed, and the best practical option is to repeal Obamacare completely."

just revisit the damn health care bill later - I’m tired of this “we didn’t pass the pos bill so now were stuck” argument.

It's part of the fundamental narcissism of people whose lives revolve around what happens in Washington.

How can it be the hardest thing in the world to stop a system that sucks and that everybody hates?

Not at all. It’s bullish!t to present this as an either/or proposition. They would have been fine with an imperfect bill THAT ACTUALLY SAVED PEOPLE MONEY — which this bill did not. I knew this bill was doomed as soon as the GOP came out and started describing this “three-phase” process to eliminate and replace Obamacare. If people didn’t see tangible results in Phase 1 then the GOP wasn’t going to be around long enough to see the process through anyway.

The main problem is it created a new entitlement and the expectation of an entitlement. The genie does not go back in the bottle sadly

Do you even understand how government works. Trump was trying to do what he could under Budget Resolution using 51 votes. Anything else now would be filabustered in the Senate.

The level of ignorance is astounding.

The author, David Catron, is either naive or working for the anti-American side. That would be the Demon-krats and Globalist Republicans.

It is well known that the ACA was meant to cripple the economy and virtually erase the middle class. Multitudes cannot any longer get decent care, even if they can afford it.

This is not to mention the encroachment of government on our lives.

Thank God for the Freedom Caucus.

“Blame Shift if it helps you sleep at night”

Obama is gone so blaming him doesn’t make any sense. The Freedom Caucus is setting itself up as a target. Somebody will have to be blamed for the failure to repeal Obamacare.

The author is an idiot. The law did not repeal the mandate. lain' ryan was being too clever by half when he thought he could slip in a zero percent fine, excuse me, "tax", but leave all the IRS machinery in place so that they could then raise the rate after the fact. Face it, the bill was a fascist's dream.

The correct action would have been to simply put up one of the very same bills which they all voted for already, but which homobama vetoed. The very same repeal bill. No excuses. These RINO POsS have their names attached to prior repeal bills. If they voted yeas last year, why not yea this year?

The faggoty mewling by the RINOs that they can't do anything now, that they seemed to be perfectly able to do last year is sickening.

It’s easy to just say ‘repeal and replace’, but the reality is it will take time to disentangle ourselves from Obamacare.

Yours is a GOP establishment (and thus bullsh!t) argument.

How long did it take us to disentangle ourselves from Prohibition after its repeal? The improvements resulting from the the repeal of Obamacare will be almost immediately felt.

Exactly my point Phase 3 was a lie that would never happen.

Gope.. you can take your veterans backstabbing bill and shove it. What bill that punishes veterans and coddle illegals is good for you. And don’t even get me started on the you have to pass it to know what’s in it bs. Thanks to Rep Meadows for highlighting the management amendment and revealing these trips for who they really are. Choosing illegals over veterans is wrong. Every time. What’s next, amnesty?
At least Ryan might get deposed.

You can not argue for reason, for rationality. The only thing that matters is “we’re aginit” “No government is acceptable”
