Time to replace Paul Ryan as House speaker

Paul Ryan failed miserably in his first important task for the Trump agenda.

Since 2009, the Republicans have campaigned in the elections of 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016 that they would repeal and replace Obamacare. One would think that given this history, the Republican leaders, such as Ryan, would have a well thought out plan to repeal Obamacare.

Ryan probably did not believe that Trump would win and was unprepared to lead the fight to repeal Obamacare. Ryan did not support Trump during the primaries and did his best to damage Trump. Moreover, since Trump's election in November, Ryan and the Republican leaders should have been working on a bill to repeal Obamacare to consider immediately after inauguration. But it seemed that Ryan had a plan with little if any input from conservatives. Trump had to step in to force compromises and adjustments to appeal to conservatives.

Paul Ryan sucks. It makes me sick to my stomach that I went out and voted for him and mittens in 2012.

A plan based on no input from conservatives...
*************************************************************
And, as Louie Gohmert said on Fox News this morning, BASED ON A LIE (that the Senate Parliamentarian said that the entirety of needed changes could not be considered under “reconciliation”).

Paul Ryan needs to go!

me too , I totally repudiate my support for this man . He has brought the dishonor of incompetence and the appearance of ineptitude too President Trump’s first months of Administration .

Ryan needs to be shown the door . Now , not later . This is his sword of Damocles and the sword has fallen .

I agree Ryan has to go. The article got one thing wrong. It is not difficult to understand why those Freedom Caucus members did not vote for the bill. They have PRINCIPLES, something the Dems and RINOs do not. The good news is Obamacare will collapse on its own.

Ryan was impressive back early on in the OblaMao years. Unfortunately he got infected with D.C. swamp disease. Time to quarantine him. Repeal and replace Paul Ryano.

Ryan is a GOPe guard. He’s accomplishing enough to make Trump look bad. Gonna be hard to replace, but if so, it would be a huge win that shoulda been done long before Trump ever announced he was running.

Billy, in a binary election many times you have to choose the least objectionable candidate. That is what you did in 2012. No reason to regret that choice.

GOPeee Ryano’s are just proverbial flies in the ointment. This is what we get for not primarying out these spoilers with the voters.

The House leader must be someone absolutely capable of counting votes. Ryan did not have the votes to begin with to pass his version of health care, and his whips could not change the situation.

In effect, Trump should know by now that the people who cheer for him the loudest are followers in name or spirit of the Freedom Caucus. He must understand by now that there are members of the House of Representatives (albeit a small percentage) who have the courage of their convictions. And, if I read the man correctly, I do not think he will ever again underestimate their willingness to replicate Horatio at the Bridge when they feel so compelled to do so.

I am really wondering if the GOP is happy that Trump won. Life is much easier in opposition, when all you have to do is kick back and complain.

How many times did the GOP vote to repeal Obamacare when they knew it wouldn’t go anywhere? Who were those Congressmen? We need to put the wood to these peckerheads.

Maybe President Trump will take the lead role in the tax bill, bring in all groups for inputs - excluding Ryan to send a message to the voters in Wisconsin and the establishment crowd.

It's easier to be the speaker when the democrats control the white house.

You can blame everything on them and never do the job you're being paid for.

Now that the Republcans control things paul pelosi and partners are dragging their feet and playing a new game.
It's called let's make Trump get gone in four years...

The jig is up paulie.

You will probably drag your feet on your way out the door in an effort to eat up more of Trump's time to succeed.

But believe me when I say this neither you or romney or any of your little helpers will ever get my vote in the future.

And I'm going to work as hard as I can to send your sorry ass to political oblivion.

Don't take your time, just go.

It’s a binary choice: Conservatism or Ryan.

It’s a binary choice: Winning or Ryan.

It’s a binary choice: Drain the Swamp or Ryan.

It’s a binary choice: Make America Great Again or Ryan.

At the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787,  Franklin was queried as he left Independence Hall on the final day of deliberation. In the notes of Dr. James McHenry, one of Maryland’s delegates to the Convention,  a lady asked Dr. Franklin “Well Doctor what have we got, a republic or a monarchy.”  Franklin replied, “A republic . . . if you can keep it.”

The answer is no, we can't keep it.

A people that elects the likes of Barack Obama, Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi, Paul Ryan, Susan Collins, John McCain etc., etc., has no one to blame but themselves for the total disaster that is their government.

We are a nation headed for the cliff at high speed. It is only a matter of time.

Bring back Newt Gingrich. The GOP house leadership contains no leaders.

The lack of repeal in the repeal and replace effort after so many years just demonstrated that they never intended to free us from their medical tyranny. It gives them money and power no matter the cost in lives.

Flush Congress, the bowl is full.

Exactly. It's not a hard job to be back-benchers when you know Obama will veto everything. UNLESS you want to be REAL leaders - in which case Ryan and McConnell, once they were in charge of both houses, should have been sending bills to Obama once a day for him to veto! THAT would have shown Moxie. But noooo! They took the easy road.

Had this RyanCare bill passed yesterday, it would have been a HUGE feather in RINORyan's cap. He wanted nothing more than to have gotten the votes for this, but since his elevation as Speaker he hasn't had to work this hard, and it showed how much of a loser he is.

This debacle PROVED Ryan has neither the talent nor the skills, nor the leadership ability, to be Speaker.

Being GOP Speaker of the House in the Obama Administration? Not such a hard job: remember, the "GOP" stood for "Give Obama Power"; it was all Kabuki Theater after all. Under Trump, however, the House GOP had to deliver, and Ryan failed miserably.

Next up on Trump's chopping block: Mitch McConnell.
