Earlier today, I listened to Jay Sekulow from the American Center for Law and Justice, (whose conservatism I respect greatly) talk about this healthcare bill.
And he pointed out, that while the bill may not be everything some conservatives may want, it does three major things that would get his vote. (And mine too.)
1. It completely defunds Planned Parenthood.
2. It sends block grants for Medicaid back to the states.
3. It completely eliminates the Obamacare mandate that required everyone to buy insurance.
4. It eliminates the Obamacare taxes, including the retro taxes from January of this year.
As he pointed out, a Reconciliation bill can’t be used for legislative tweaks, but only for budgetary items.
I think some of these congressmen/congresswomen are enjoying the limelight too much and need to take advantage of this great opportunity and vote for this bill.
As he pointed out, a Reconciliation bill cant be used for legislative tweaks, but only for budgetary items.

Yep, this is what people don’t seem to get. Won’t have votes for any other bill.
3. It completely eliminates the Obamacare mandate that required everyone to buy insurance.

No it doesn’t, it reduces the IRS penalty to $0.00 but does not remove it. The penalty to the IRS is replaced with a 30% premium increase to the insurance companies.
RE: It eliminates the Obamacare taxes, including the retro taxes from January of this year.
BS.
It moves the taxes from the IRS to collect to the insurance companies. The taxes are still there.
And Semulow is only giving part of the story for good reason. Almost EVERY part of this bill can be tied to a budgetary item. ANY regulation or mandate is a budgetary item which is I’d posit to say is 90%. If this bill doesn’t hit that 90% then it isn’t the bill we want
