A Texas high school anatomy teacher has been arrested for allegedly having an improper relationship with a student.
The Lockhart Police Department said 27-year-old Sarah Fowlkes of Lockhart High School "engaged in sexual contact" with a 17-year-old male student earlier this month.
Police told NBC Austin affiliate KXAN Fowlkes turned herself in on Monday and bonded out later that day.
Fowlkes' attorney Jason Nassour said, "You've got a young lady who was arrested on the statement of a 17-year-old kid with no corroborating evidence."
Nassour said his client is smiling in her mug shot because she is innocent.
He added that "this isn't a guilty person sitting there like they just got caught. When everything's fleshed out it won't be as it appears."

Publicity for that smile will make it a huge case for prosecution rather than just a local gossip item.
I ask again, where were these teachers when I was in high school? I think it was required that you had to be over 60 if you were a woman teaching at my high school....
Um, no. I have seen mugshots of feral youths who clearly committed the crime and they smiled too.

I believe that her attorney is saying the kid made it up. If this is nothing but “he said, she said”, she walks and can be assumed to be fully innocent.
I think this one is really a matter of opinion. I really don’t have and complaints about her smiling or not.
I had one when I was in HS. But back then, it didn’t come to this.
She was really, REALLY cute, but she was engaged to one of the other teachers. Back then, people seemed to uphold their moral standards better than they do today. We really are in a much more “anything goes” culture now.
Yeah, I actually recall Delay’s photo quite well... but I just would have a lot of trouble coming into such a thing with anything resembling a decent attitude.

She’s definitely not guilty. But she no doubt lost her innocence long ago.
If anyone is wondering there is text messaging evidence between her and the teen. Curious to what her attorney thinks of that.
