It’s considered one of the world’s oldest Christian populations—now it’s poised to become the most recent driven to extinction. So says Canon Andrew White, a prominent churchman known as the “vicar of Baghdad,” about Iraqi Christians.

This is what political correctness has wrought.

We should have Christianized Iraq when we took them over.

Doing that under our laws and constitution with an evil left party looking on is hard. But that’s what we should have done.

This seemed to be fine with Obama...

And Hillary, ValJar, Brennan, Susan Rice ... and their friends, like CAIR.

Not saying he was a good guy, but under Saddam, Christians could worship freely. Thanks GWB.

I blame Bush AND Obama for this nightmare, equally. When Christians in Iraq and throughout the Mideast began being dislocated, beaten and slaughtered, Bush said not a peep about it. The guy is a cowardly disgrace. And of course, Obama supported it all, being the radical Mooslim demon that he is.

Christian Massacres: A Result of U.S. Foreign Policy
https://www.thenewamerican.com/world-news/asia/item/10970-christian-massacres-a-result-of-us-foreign-policy

It has been claimed that U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East could not be intentionally designed to do a better job of liquidating Christians than is happening nowadays. It’s likely true. By Alex Newman

Absolutely. Because America defeated Sadaam and stood back after that, Iraq and the entire Mideast are much worse off today, esp. Christians. Bush failed, and Christian people wailed. Shame on him forever.

you blame “political correctness”?

No, it’s the fault of George Bush and his invasion of Iraq. Christians were safe in Iraq before we ousted Saddam and let the jihadis run wild. Saddam was brutal - against Islamists. The massacres of Christians started soon after Bush’s invasion - years before Obama’s presidency

Yep. As bad as Saddam may have been, the end result of removing him was not worth the cost.

Has anyone investigated whether it would be possible to REVERSE this process - throughout the world! Or would that be non-PC? Just askin’.

***but under Saddam,***

Saddam may have had control over Iraq but he also had empire lusts. His attack on Iran, his takeover of Kuwait, and his preparations to attack Saudi Arabia threatened the oil supplies. Then add to that his attack on the USS STARK.
Everyone forgets the USS STARK.

Maybe Christians were safe, but Jews in Israel weren't because of Saddam.

Saddam was openly paying the families of suicide bombers. Remember the multiple suicide vest factories they found in Iraq? Saddam was the only state leader who openly applauded 9/11. He had to go.

Bush did the right thing in taking Saddam out. But he should have set up another strong man, and given time to re-educate the population on rights and democracy before introducing democracy at the national level.

“This seemed to be fine with Obama.”

And unfortunately Bush if one goes that route.

It may have accelerated under ISIS; but any Assyrian Chaldean Christian source will tell you, the persecution started immediately after the 2003 invasion. If we invaded, we should have dealt with this matter as well.

Perhaps, they just did not take this into account.

Bush’s invasion of Iraq caused devastation for the Iraqi people and genocide for Iraq’s Christians. And turned the Middle East into a tinderbox. Ironically, you don’t even argue with that, but you still support his stupid, evil invasion. Ok, whatevet

It wasn’t removing Saddam that was wrong. It was the politically correct nation building afterwards. And Obama withdrawing prematurely didn’t help either.

You would have left Saddam in power who was a terrorist supporter and enabler in Iraq who was growing bolder by the minute. Saddam had tons of yellow cake uranium and it was only a matter of time until his nuclear mujadeen which he bragged about constantly built and used a dirty bomb.

I supported the invasion of Iraq, then did two deployments there. On the first deployment (04-05) I realized we had already lost because of three big mistakes we made. We didn’t go in with enough troops to secure the country, we gave them their country back to soon, and we allowed them to form an Islamic republic.

I still think it could have worked if we would have invaded with 500,000-750,000 troops. Ruled the country for 20-30 years (something like MacArthur in Japan) and then had a sizable military presence for 50-100 years. Bush and his cronies tried to do it on the cheap and failed miserably. The greater sin is that they wasted American lives for nothing.
