Four Turkish soldiers and a military attaché who had applied for asylum in Norway following the 15 July coup attempt have been granted residence and working permits. Kjell M. Brygfjeld, lawyer of the five Turkish nationals, confirmed the decision which has stirred controversy between the NATO allies to Norwegian daily Klassekampen.
Turkey had asked Norway for the extradition of the four soldiers and the military attaché, suspected of having participated in the failed coup. The decision to grant the suspects and their families, all living at secret addresses, asylum in Norway may thus further add to the already tense relationship between Turkey and Europe.
Turkish military officers have sought asylum in many cases since 15 July last year. As many as 136 Turkish nationals with diplomatic passports had already entered Germany.

Yes, I’d like a place in Norway much better than Turkey under any circumstances. Pretty nice people. Much smarter than where they were from.

Hope these Turkish soldiers really are the good guys. I assume they’ve been thoroughly vetted.

You can count on it. This would have been a very good duty station for a Turk. I expect some pretty sharp people were there.

In that case, they can possibly help Norwegian officials weed out the Islamists already there. A lot of muslims hate them a much as we do.

I don’t think the 5 mentioned here will have much affect on that.
And they know, if they go back to Turkey exactly what is facing them.
It is Live or Die moment.

The Kurds they kill do. Russia does since they shot down one of their jets.
We do or we would’t have troops embedded in Kurdish areas so Turkey doesn’t attack.
Some European countries do or they would’t give a damn about Turkish human rights abuses and refuses prime minsters.
These four are facts, not my opinions.
