Go Back and Watch Election Night and You’ll Find the Root of the Democrats’ Russia Delusion

RUSH: You know what I did? I took my own advice, folks, and I went back last night and I watched some election night coverage. I told you yesterday if you want to find out why all of this is happening, go back and watch election night coverage. Pick any network, including Fox — it doesn’t matter — and start about 7 p.m. and watch a little, fast forward, watch a little more, and you’ll note that at about 9 to 9:30 is when the party-like atmosphere on every network begins to change obviously and dramatically.

And from 9:30 on it becomes funereal. It becomes panic city. Everything the Democrats were just so certain of is crumbling right before their eyes on their very own maps and tote boards. I went back and I took my own advice, and I did this. I was hoping that it would reignite new perspective. Plus, I figured if I suggested that you do it, it might not hurt me to do it as well. And I’m telling you, folks, I went off the grid to do this.

I shut down email. I didn’t know that Trump had a rally last night until it was almost five minutes away from being concluded, ’cause I got home and I went and did this little project, and I didn’t respond to anything. I was off the grid to be able to do this uninterrupted. The utter shock, the utter horror, the anger and the grief of the anchors and the analysts and the reporters revealed to me that these people were so cocksure that this was going to be a Hillary landslide. They were partying. They were celebrating. They were casting each other knowing glances. They were speaking disparagingly of Trump and Trump voters, and it was going to be a rout.

And this night, election night last year, was going to be the end of any official opposition to the establishment, to the Democrat Party. That’s what the election night in November last year really was. Wiping out Trump was going to wipe out the Republicans. It was going to give Hillary Clinton at least four years of Supreme Court nominations, and that would shape country culturally for the rest of many Americans’ lives, and they would be able to do nothing about it.

Believe me, election night last year — and they all believed it. It was like you and Christmas Eve when you were a kid. And the shock and the horror and the anger and the grief that slowly crept over all of these people’s faces and manners and behavior was just beautiful to behold. They knew they were gonna win. They knew they were gonna win with a blinding certainty that was created over a span of many months, with bingeing arrogance.

CNN ELECTION NIGHT 2016 Full Coverage 1/3 (No Commercials)

Hillary Clinton was gonna win in a landslide, period. Donald Trump was gonna be wiped out. The Republicans were gonna be wiped out. They had their polls. They had their surveys. They had everything, their focus groups, they had all the data. It was conclusive. Nate Silver was telling them 95% chance Hillary’s gonna win. A Trump win was inconceivable. And not just because they were all assured by stat gurus that Hillary had that 95% chance of winning, they also didn’t know anybody voting for Trump.

They don’t know anybody who believes in God anymore. They don’t know anybody who actually works on a farm. They don’t know anybody who goes to church. They think they’re the mainstream, and they’re not. And all of this hit them upside the head on election night. And I’m gonna tell you this, folks. I’m so glad I did this, because I’m here to tell you, nothing Russia did created this arrogance. Nothing Russia did created this willful blindness the Democrats and the media had about Trump’s prospects. Russia did not hack all of these Democrat polls to mislead Democrats. They believed their own fake polls. They believed their own data. The Russians didn’t create it. The Russians didn’t create the polls. Nate Silver’s not a Russian plant.

The Russians had nothing to do with creating all of these fake circumstances the Democrats believed lock, stock, and barrel was going to result and end in a Hillary landslide. Russia did not send fake information to John Podesta causing him to believe Hillary could ignore Rust Belt states. Russia did not provide fake information to news propagandists brainwashing them into believing Trump’s rallies meant nothing.

I even saw some people, “Yeah, those Trump rallies, audience size at rallies doesn’t mean anything.” Russia had nothing to do with creating the Democrat Party mind-set. They weren’t even concerned about the Russians. They weren’t concerned about a thing. In fact, for most of the Democrat Party’s history, they have loved the Soviet Union and then the Russians, as they love all totalitarian regimes. Russia did not write Obamacare, which got so many Trump voters to the polls. Russia did not kill Ambassador Stevens. Russia did not dictate our horrible response at Benghazi. Russia did not create the worst economic recovery in American history.

Barack Obama and the Democrats did. Barack Obama and the Democrats did not save Ambassador Stevens and the three others killed at Benghazi. Barack Obama and the Democrats wrote the Unaffordable Care Act. Yes, that’s what it should be called, the Unaffordable Care Act. The Russians had nothing to do with any of this.

Russia did not make Hillary Clinton lazy. Russia did not make Hillary Clinton uninteresting. Russia did not make Hillary Clinton the lousiest candidate the Democrats have nominated in a long time. Russia did not cause Hillary Clinton to almost faint and fall over and have to be thrown into a van one beautiful September morning.

Somebody please tell that to FBI Director Comey. Russia didn’t do any of the things that led to the Democrats losing the election. Not a single thing. The Democrats lost this election on substance. The Democrats lost this election on personality. The Democrats lost this election on policy. The Democrats lost this election on arrogance. The Democrats lost this election on condescending attitudes toward most Americans.

The Democrats lost this election because they have become out of touch with the American people, and the Russians have not a single thing to do with any of the real reasons that the Democrat Party and Hillary Clinton lost the presidency. It was all self-inflicted. They conspired, all the news people, all the pollsters, all the campaign people, candidate, Huma, all of them conspired in a collective self-delusion, an ignorance-is-bliss bubble conspiracy.

And in the midst of all this, reality made a phone call. Reality called in to say that Hillary Clinton was a terrible candidate and an outsider had a distinct advantage over her. Democrats didn’t answer the call. And because Trump won and shattered — you go back and you watch this, you can’t believe until you watch it again knowing what you know now, you can’t believe how totally broken and shattered they were.

I’ve been doing this since the election———all cable and major networks, including PBS.

It’s delightful.

A lot of you here are too young to remember the 1994 Newt Gingrich Congressional Earthquake, when the GOP won 54 seats and a majority in the House of Representatives for the first time in 52 years.

I didn't watch it that night, but I listened to NPR the next morning on my way to work.

It was something to hear. Every single anchor and correspondent was speaking in a very low voice, very slowly. Slowly, slowly.

It reminded me of SNL's "Festrunk Brothers" (Steve Martin and Dan Akroyd) when they figured out that the "Fox-es" had stood them up.

By not pursuing the Clinton crimes they are essentially saying that as long as you are in power you are fair game for prosecutors and the media but once you’re no longer a contender for power in the swamp all is forgotten. Which makes this nothing more than D.C. “gottcha” and leads to voter apathy.

Don’t remember exactly but just after the 8PM CST break, I noticed things began to shift on FBN. I told wife, based on what was being said Trump just may win. True the positive increased from there but i think it became apparent at around 8 CST that HRC was in real trouble.

Heh. It was exactly the opposite here at Free Republic. :-)

On September 29th, we were at my buddy’s place for a football party for the Nebraska vs Illinois game. In the evening after the game, we were all pretty liquored up and got to talking about the election. A couple of my friends were saying that they thought Trump was done. I told them that he was going to win and win in a landslide. That got the attention of several more friends and acquaintances who joined the discussion. I explained about reading a lot of the Wikileaks stuff and seeing the email that talked about using the polls to push people to assume it was over. I told them that it seemed to me, based on Wikileaks, that the media and polling people were trying to “gaslight” the Trumpers. I said that based on that information and the rallys and what a horrible low energy candidate that the Clinton campaign was smoke and mirrors..

Needless to say, most of them said that I was full of it and it was wishful thinking. I placed some bets that night that left me with a pocketful of twenties a few weeks later. I made the same bet with one of my friends at work who was convinced it was going to be a wipeout.

I have never been so happy to be right.

HRC had the intel from the obam administration. She was pressing the Russia meme during the second debate.

Good memory. Many have forgotten that amidst all the smoke and mirrors we now see being played

When our liberal snow bird neighbors left last March to go back to Massachusetts my husband told them Trump would be President when they came back this year. They laughed.

I was in Subic Bay, performing a special process audit on a sheet metal fabricator making parts for the Boeing companies, and owned by two Bangladeshi brothers who happen to be devout Muslims. I had finished breakfast and was watching FoxNews in my room, but had to go to work just as the first precincts were closing, so had no news until I met the managing brother for lunch. "Trump won", he tells me, and to my incredulous look says his brother in Wichita at the parent company is 99.99% sure it's over. We go to lunch at Texas Joe's House of Ribs where FoxNews is blasting on several bigscreen TV's and everyone is in a festive mood, for the election and the upcoming Christmas season (tree went up that morning in my hotel).

And everything changed that day.

This is one of my favorite pastimes. I’ve seen the coverage on YouTube (although some are not complete) of:

-Fox News
-CNN
-MSNBC (LOL)
-Fox Business
-Fox Broadcast
-ABC
-NBC
-CBS
-PBS
-700 Club (short)

-Yahoo News (they all act like Hillary already won at the beginning)
-Daily Wire (NeverTrumpers)
-Church Militant (pro-Trump Catholics)
-Breitbart (filmed radio broadcast)
-Louder with Crowder
-The Young Turks (short outtakes of their breakdowns)

Including foreign coverage:

-BBC
-ITV (extremely biased)
-CBC (all three panel members were virulently anti-Trump)
-RT (they love the third parties)
-ARD (German; Clinton and Obama worship; lots of nonsensical BS about Trump)
-Der Spiegel (German newspaper webcast; short)
-ORF2 (Austrian; was removed from YouTube while I was still watching it)
-TG La7 (Italian)

I’m currently watching:

-Right Side Broadcasting (kind of boring one-man-show, but on our side)
-Telemundo (extraordinarily Hispanic centric—unsurprisingly)

And I still plan probably to watch:

-CSPAN
-Fusion (leftie)
-LINKTV (leftie)
-Alex Jones (rightie)

That may be all that’s up (at least in languages I understand). I hope I’m not missing any. I’ve gone a little crazy with it, but it never gets old—and it really, really presses home how biased and out-of-touch the media is on average.

The one exception was Fox Business Network. They were mildly subdued until about 10 PM, and then become more and more jovial, until between 1:00 and 3:00, when it was obvious that they desperately wanted to declare Trump the winner and was being stopped by Someones Upstairs.

Yes, I remember. For some reason everyone was refusing to give Trump Georgia even though he was double digits ahead with 90+ percent of the vote in and Cavuto was coming on saying "well we're being asked why we haven't put Georgia into the win column yet for Trump, our people just don't have confidence yet that that's over so we'll wait a little longer" and all I could think was "they thought Hillary had rigged it and someone upstairs is waiting for her fraud to kick in" because there was no other reason.

After the fact I watched PBS coverage of the election on Youtube and that is great fun. They start off all "elections are sacred and we all must respect the results regardless of the outcome (hint: it's Hillary!)" at 8pm and by 10pm that was entirely out the window when it was obvious Trump was winning. Some real sad faces on their, a real delight!

I watched a Periscope video by a breitbart reporter Lee Stranahan. Apparently the FBI did not examine the compromised dnc servers. The same ones maintained by the Muslim brothers. The FBI relied on the information gleaned from this troupe of fired activists.

Doubt everything Comey said regarding the confidence in Russia intervention. This thing is dirtier than we can imagine.

I remember Nobama criticizing Republicans before the election for complaining the election was rigged.
After the election he was a broken record, complaining the election was rigged.

I too thought the shift happened about 7:30 to 8 pm EST. I didn’t watch TV but simply watched the real-time trending on the NYT web site.

http://www.nytimes.com/elections/forecast/president

I laughed when their crooked Hillary prediction of 80+% started falling and the red and blue lines crossed. It was a joy to watch, just the data with no commentary.

That must have been the time the news anchors woke up to the truth -
