If the court needs someone to re-enact the “crime” with the suspect then I will volunteer.
With the female teacher/male student, there's little need for coercion, as the female teacher (and theoretically, responsible party) controls the spigot, so to speak. The male student simply needs an opportunity in most cases. Therefore, the 'responsible adult' should have controlled whether or not the relationship happened.
Imagine the sentence if he'd committed hyperbole.

I would consider a mug shot to be the Ultimate Selfie.

She’s beautiful to look at, but something is terribly wrong here. If innocent, she has biased any jury after seeing her bright smiling Mug Shot. If guilty, she has exploded her teaching career, her professional reputation and very likely, she has ‘exploded’ her marriage.
What man would want to stay in such a publicly known position as husband to a potential child abuser. Some spouses actually would be that forgiving. Ready to forget all about her ‘mistakes’. Other spouses would ‘forgive’ if it meant they too had license to play around with ‘forgiveness’ already guaranteed.

I agree, and I think your post addresses why people, generally speaking, don’t take this as seriously. Assuming she’s cute, most guys say things like they wish this happened to them in school.
In the opposite case, this is now how it is perceived.
But really, both are a problem, though one really is more serious than the other.
