I don’t know when Congress has anything but “professional politicians” who care about nothing but themselves and maintaining their “power”...

There is a need for term limits....

America’s problem: illiterate electorate.

Not really, they are highly literate in Marxist dogma.

If FDR lived longer we would have been a Soviet satellite.

Yes. 100%.

Socialist Security is the grandfather of all government "goodies" that big-government Libturds and RINOs have been hanging over the heads of aging Americans for decades.

At the beginning, Socialist Security may have contained a facade of ownership or something you earned but I think in was in the 1960s when LBJ turned into just another form of revenue at which time it became an "entitlement".

Now, I think SS is the number one "unfunded liability".

Sorry to break the news to you, sir (or ma'am, as the case may be) but you bought into the big lie as did most of us.

I hope you use whatever time you have left on this earth trying to teach your children, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren what a mistake it is to expect the government (actually, your fellow citizens and taxpayers) to take care of you in your old age.

If you could go back and get all the money you've paid into SS over the years and put it into a savings account that paid as little as 1% interest a year, you'd be swimming in money right now and your grandchildren wouldn't face having to pay that 200 trillion dollar unfunded liability that you and I helped create.

Sorry to break the news to you.

You ain’t breaking any news to me...SS has been withdrawn from paychecks with no option...If I could’ve or if anyone could’ve placed this money into a personal account, most would’ve...
But that was not available...I promise you SS is NOT unfunded...We who worked for a living funded it every single payday...

What difference does that make? You denigrating those whose tours were cut short by injuries suffered in combat?

you are kidding, right? he put himself in for a Heart for a scratch...

he gamed the system same as he's done his whole life

And for anyone below 45 (including me) - SS should go away.

I've paid into it since I first began work at 16. I'm tired of watching people act like I'm responsible for their retirement demand it from me, who will likely never see a dime in return.

I'm tired of watching people milk the system and expect the government is supposed to be their safety net and demand I take part.

If I started SS, I'd be arrested for conducting a ponzi scheme.....but in the name of government I'm forced to pay in and participate at the threat of a gun.

An even bigger scam than SS for retirement is SSDI - I know a woman collecting SS because her breasts are too big, which makes her back hurt, which means she can't work - which means the taxpayer has to pay.

...you are kidding, right?

Yes. I like to throw the "I'm a vet" grenade back at those who try to use their Vet status as some sort of arguing point as if it innoculates them criticism.

Sometimes I use Timothy McVeigh.

Rarely, if ever, am I the one who brings up someone's military service as part of the argument.

Are you over 45? -If so then you're not included in what I was saying.

Why should I have to pay into something until I'm 70 and hope to get a return?

Why should I have to pay for some made up disability?

Why should I have to max out every year and pay for those who don't?

Why is that so hard for you to understand?

Letting people turn into sloths from marijuana will only enhance socialism.

Letting people turn into beached whales from overeating will only enhance their socialist desire for tax-funded services. Does that mean government should ban fattening foods?

I didn't say you were taking MY money. I said you are taking your children's and your grandchildren's and your great-greatchildren's (whether they've been born yet or not) money.

All the money you paid into over the last 52 years went to other people.

So, if you deposit a dollar bill in the bank and six months later, you withdraw a dollar bill, it’s the SAME dollar...

Get real...

That's part of the deception you've bought into right there.

The government is not a bank. That's why it's 20 trillion dollars in debt and has some 200 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities.

JBW1949, Texas Eagle is right.

All of the money paid into SS is gone. Everything being paid out of SS is coming from the general fund i.e. taxes.

Sad to say, but there are no personal SS accounts with our names on them anywhere. SS has been a ponzi-scheme from its beginning.
