Trump: Germany ‘owes vast sums’ to NATO, US for defense
NY POST ^ | March 18, 2017 | Mary Kay Linge

President Trump hit Twitter Saturday morning to comment on his White House meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

“Despite what you have heard from the FAKE NEWS, I had a GREAT meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel,” he wrote at 9:15 a.m. in the first of two tweets. “Nevertheless, Germany owes vast sums of money to NATO & the United States must be paid more for the powerful, and very expensive, defense it provides to Germany!” he followed up 8 minutes later.

I certainly feel this way. I was in Germany in the early 70s and the US spent untold billions/trillions protecting that place. All so they could improve themselves and import Turkish Gastarbeiters to do their dirty work for them.

Fast forward to today and they re-asserted their sovereignty - somewhat, still sucking off the US teat with NATO and continuing their delve into destruction with the Muslim incursion. We don’t owe them a damn dime; they owe us a mint. Not one more dime. Not one.

People don’t get what is really going on here. America can spend as little or as much on NATO as we like. Germany and the other countries will spend less if we spend more. They will spend more if we spend less. Its a zero sum game. They are not afraid. So why should we spend more on their defense. If America feels nationalistic we can double the military budget. And Europe will just half their portion. As it stands now. Europe sees NATO funding as nothing more than a jobs program. And a way to get American funding.

The EU considers themself a whole. So they should, as a whole, supply funding for NATO. America should spend the money on defense of hackers and China. North Korea is China. So we really only care about stuff coming from the west.

The article does not mention the amount owed the US. Something tells me it is a surprisingly high number.

It’s great that he keeps calling the media fake news. Repetition, repetition, eventually it will stick in everyone’s mind.

The US should simply withdraw from NATO.

It is not possible to make a real politik case on our continued participation, it causes great tensions with countries that would otherwise be our friends, and creates existential risk for the American people.

And it’s a money sink.

Our continued support of Europe has resulted in their disdain for us. Not unlike the hatred welfare recipients have for their payers.

Every single voice of support for NATO is based in emotion. Or an appeal to emotion from the military-industrial complex that is getting rich from it.

No wonder Angela was slouching more than she usually does. Trump must have given her a pay-up ultimatum.

Fully, encourage the entire world to, actually, become conservative, asap, and they will, really, behave like grown adults and become much more responsible, on all of the issues! No more worldwide political correctness=a return to commonsense, on all of the issues, and a much better world, overall.

IMO, it is incalculable.

It is. So much so that, it is accurate to say that eurosocialism was/is only sustainable due to the fact that the US taxpayer has funded it for almost 70 years.

Why should Germany pay up, when our PREVIOUS feckless presidents had no balls, and more than that, neocons like the Bushes want to act high and mighty with no regard to the national debt bigger than mount Everest. Trump is a lifelong SUCCESSFUL businessman and recognizes budgets and bottom lines.

Can we just leave Europe already? And Korea and Okinawa. There is no point to this.
