You don't have enough votes on the floor of Congress.

You never have had and never will.

If you look at the last 17 years(since Bush took office), neither the Senate nor the House has passed legislation for an enforcement only solution to the immigration problem.

OTOH, twice, in 2006 under Bush, and in 2013 under Obama, the Senate passed comprehensive immigration reform with amnesty.

The only thing stopping amnesty is the Hastert Rule.

We do not need new legislation. There is no law that allows “otherwise law-abiding” illegal aliens to remain in the USA.

We don’t need votes in Congress.
The laws are in place.
What has always been missing is a President who would enforce them.
Since the last amnesty the GOP made sure we could not get one by only nominating amnesty candidates.
Trump changed that.
