The year 2017 hasn't been forgiving to the broadcast networks. With a whopping 17 scripted launches since Jan. 1, nearly all new series are languishing with low ratings, even by today's modest standards. But that may not be entirely the new shows' fault: The root of midseason's problem, some say, is the middling fall that preceded it.
"In the past, midseason success was typically built on the foundation established in the fall," says Sam Armando, lead investment director at MediaVest-Spark, noting all but NBC (and sports-lifted Fox) are down this year. "Since only This Is Us popped in the fall, there just aren't any coattails to ride on."

Yes, so much of it is just BAD.... Just bad... even if you filter out all the culture war propaganda... so much is just horribly bad... even if the premise has promise, they seem to make it bad.
Two Broke Girls is probably one of the worst, unfunniest shows I have ever seen, yet its in what? its 5th season or something? Its not funny... jokes are obvious and lazy, acting is non existent etc... etc.. yet someone is tuning in every week to watch the drivel.

I just discovered that Mosfilm has posted the films of Andrei Tarkovsky on YouTube. Andrei Rublev, Solaris, The Mirror, Stalker...all in HD with English subtitles. Gorgeous films and invaluable to me at least.

I’m ahead of the curve, I tuned it all out 9 years ago when my tv died during the primaries.
I didn’t have a daily encounter with Obama and his propagandists at any point over the course of 8 years. As the propagandists are still in collusion to deceive the American people I see no point to start watching their idiot box pitch now.
Well, I certainly don’t get it. We’ve had gay situation comedies, gay Westerns, gay soap operas, gay cop shows, gay military series, gay nature shows, gay reality series, and gay quiz shows. Nobody’s biting. What do the people want?

I was a huge fan of the original Battlestar Galactica. So, about a decade ago, my daughter loaned me a boxed set of an entire season. I watched a few episodes, but it felt like I was being strung along. It felt like it took two episodes to develop a story that could have been developed in 20 minutes.
It felt like the show was just filler to give you something to keep you viewing between commercials.
Meanwhile, I got turned on to Firefly and bought the entire series. My wife did the same thing with Reba. We know those entire series by heart now. She has Reba on while working around the house.
I agree, there is so much comedy to be had in the premise, that it could be a great show... but if it falls into adult themes and humor, it will fail.
If it keeps it light hearted, and slap sticky I will give it a shot... however if I am hearing lesbian jokes, or gay characters 5 seconds in, it will flop.
I have been saying this for years, if Blacks were as overrepresented on network television as homosexuals are, white actors would not be able to find work. Stop shoe horning homosexuals into every damned show for no reason.
