If you follow the logic of an unnamed White House staffer in the Atlantic, the whole idea that former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney was being considered to be President Trump's secretary of state was a ruse from the beginning.
Romney was one of Trump's biggest critics before the election. And after Trump declined to pick him for secretary of state, how could he criticize Trump going forward and not have it look like sour grapes?
“ ‘Judas Iscariot got 30 pieces of silver; Mitt Romney got a dish of frog legs at Jean-Georges. And even at that, it was the appetizer portion,’ a high-ranking White House official told me. ‘We’ve sort of taken out his larynx — how can he criticize [Trump] now?’ ”
This might be a telling lesson for House Speaker Paul Ryan. It's becoming increasingly clear that Trump is trying to make Ryan the fall guy for the failure of the health care replacement bill. If Trump is successful, the larger point will be this: Ryan can't even lead House Republicans, so what power does he actually have?

LOSERS are never contenders or to be considered seriously. Romney, McCain, HRC, Sanders and the lot of them. Nothing they do or CAN DO matters. Just diversion and blather where the media uses it to their advantage, that’s all.
I would hope so. While he is at it put a muzzle on crazy McCain.

There is a decided lack of leadership in congress and that has been increasingly clear. The art of legislating has been dying for a long time, this congress has many who don’t even know what the legislative process is.
If you listen carefully you can hear our forefathers cheering as congress digs out that dusty process and try’s on the cloak that was bequeathed to them. Maybe one day we can once again say “the worlds greatest deliberative body” without laughing hysterically.

Would that it were so! Trump has his work cut out for him. I think at first, he thought he had the Republican leadership at his back. He’s now discovered to his dismay that they’re a bunch of craven slimeballs out for themselves.

Exactly! This has been my arguing point for weeks now. Trump is (pretending) to support ObamaCare 2.0 to set Ryan up for the biggest failure since Obama!
And when Ryan's bill fails to get out of the Senate - there will be a general consensus to abandon ObamaCare all together and let it implode.
