Rand Paul: 'Unhinged' McCain makes 'strong case for term limits'
THE HILL ^ | March 16,2017 | By Rebecca Savransky

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Thursday shot back at Sen. John McCain after the Arizona Republican accused Paul of working for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I think he makes a really, really strong case for term limits," Paul said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." "I think maybe he's past his prime; I think maybe he's gotten a little bit unhinged."

McCain made the claims Wednesday from the Senate floor.

"He has no justification for his objection to having a small nation be part of NATO that is under assault from the Russians," McCain said.

"The senator from Kentucky is now working for Vladimir Putin." The comments came after McCain asked for unanimous consent to set up a vote on a treaty on Montenegro joining NATO, but Paul objected.

Under Senate rules, any one senator can object to a unanimous consent request. McCain warned before asking for consent that any senator who objected was "carrying out the desires and ambitions of Putin."

Paul said the U.S. military is already stretched thin.

On Thursday, the Kentucky Republican said there can be a "rational discussion" about the pros and cons of expanding NATO.

"We currently have ... combat troops in about six nations. We have troops actively just stationed in probably a couple dozen others," he said.

"We have a $20 trillion debt."

Paul said McCain's foreign policy would "greatly endanger" the country and "greatly overextend us."

"And there has to be the thought whether or not it's in our national interest to pledge to get involved with a war if Montenegro has an altercation with anyone," he said.

"Another argument is that, when you ask the people of Montenegro, only about 40 percent or slightly less are actually in favor of this," he said, adding there are a lot of considerations.

Even a blind squirrel (Rand Paul) finds a nut (John McCain) once in a while.

I bet if you look into this there is a pipeline or some other reason for allowing Montenegro into Nato. Why McCain gets so unhinged over something as seemingly meaningless as this escapes me.

McCain has been unhinged for a long time. It shocked me when the GOP nominated him in 2008, a sure loser.

Ohio’s Robert Taft, one of the most traditionally conservative senators ever, had much more agreement with Rand Paul’s views on NATO than with McCain’s. It is time conservatives turn back to the mindset of Taft and Paul and away from McCain and Graham.

McCain was always the lamestream media’s favorite Republican until he ran for president and was shocked when the media turned on him. Then he had to pretend not to be a liberal long enough to make it through the Republican primary for re-election to his Senate seat.

Ever since, he has been working diligently to suck up to the lamestream media and become their favorite Republican again.

I’m looking for the USA Today headline that reads, “McCain, without evidence, accuses Rand Paul of now working for Putin”.

I remember my heart sinking the minute it was announce McQueeg had the nomination. Guaranteed loss, even though I worked my heart out for the guy and voted for him. Swamp creature for sure. People of Arizona, wake up!

Rand Paul: ‘Unhinged’ McCain makes ‘strong case for term limits’

Agree 100% absolutely. Especially, in the case of McCain. He is just as LOONY as Pelousi. Couple of half-baked senile hasbeens.

McCain is the poster boy for “pre-death” embalming.

Get him ready for his eternal slumber.

Never to early for this guy from this point on...

It didn't shock me, I expected it. It was 'his turn' after all. It did, however, piss me off and turn me against the establishment wing of the GOP. Today that's all Republicans except Donald Trump, The House Freedom Caucus and Tom Cotton.

Graham is going to be one little lost puppy without McCain. He’s going to have to find another old goat to satisfy his daddy issues.

Tom Cotton

Cotton is good on a few things, but he's a disciple of McCain, Graham and the neocons when it comes to mongering perpetual war. So is Rubio.

What is scary is that Rand Paul was the ONLY one to stand up to this insanity. He also kept Georgia out of NATO.
