They can’t. Their track record speaks for itself.

i.e. fake news.

I’m thinking Ryan and his “Care” want the Republicans (mainly Trump) to fail.

Ding! We have a winner!

EXACTLY! Ryan appears to be teeing this up PRECISELY so that Trump will fail. Hopefully Trump is smart enough to see this but hasn't shown that to be the case so far by tweeting and going out on the road to promote this mess.

RyanCare is actually WORSE for those of us in the golden 'pre-retirement' years - if that is even possible. (eg: Insurers can charge older people FIVE TIMES younger rates, whereas Obambicare limits it to 3X). Plus the CBO says rates will go up 20% and they are already more than a house payment monthly.

This year rolls around and suddenly the same policy costs almost $600 a month

My company's Cobra insurance starts at ~$850 a month. Multistate coverage is ~$1250 a month. I am sure those will go up during next open enrollment. At least for the time being Cobra is the better deal. The non subsidized crappy bronze plans cost about as much as Cobra for someone my age.

Interesting. We’re both 63 and pay roughly $250 a year for health care including dentist visits.

So you're self-insuring? What happens if you have a catastrophic health event that costs tens of thousands - or worse, hundreds of thousands of dollars to save your life of the life of your spouse?

As much as I loathe CNN, examples like this are very fair game..health INSURANCE or health CARE should not bankrupt families or consume 30-50 or more % of their gross income - period.

But didn't Obummer Care get rid of high-deductible catastrophic health insurance plans?

All plans had to fit the govt. requirements....

Well THE CRIMINAL NEWS NETWORK should try this. I was suppose to pay 1200 plus a month...AZ blue cross, and get a 6500 dollar deductable. That was up from last years 740 a month premium.
Besides that, I would have had a hell of a time finding a doctor. Can find NPs, but not doctors.
So....eff em. I get hit on the road or something and I will follow my now retire doctors advice. Get your care, and then file bankruptcy.
All of my prior doctors have quit or retired...and they were good to.

You are a liar enabler to the poor person. No wonder the poor person will die of cancer. He is surrounded by liars instead of prevention.

Giving false hope in medicine instead of healthy prevention, hurts poor children. Why do you wish to hurt children?

They are available for people under 30 and for short term coverage. At one point when the penalty was lower, some people paid the penalty and bought catastrophic coverage. You can buy it without penalty if you can get a hardship waiver. The last administration wanted to curtail such usage and force people into buying standard coverage. Not sure if they did it or not. It might be a mute point. The last time I checked they jacked up the rates on catastrophic coverage big time in my area.

Because she only makes about $22k a year, she gets a good subsidy. But she boxed herself into a corner by rolling debt into every vehicle. And she trades cars with every oil change (literally).

The $525 a month car payment is for a used truck. Yeah, I said that. Her ex is giving her $50 a month to help her with it.

RE: Our cell phone plan is $250.00, exactly what we USED to pay for INSURANCE!

And what does the insurance cover?

KRLA 870 radio here in Los Angeles area is shilling for the Paul Ryan tax raise non healthcare bill. There are 2 hosts in morning radio with one a liberal who likes the current obamacare and the other is suppose to be a conservative but she sounding like she is all for Ryancare. She throws in a few buts and says phase 1 and phase 2 will be coming.
Today she said no one trust gov’t.... well DUH!

That is why you throw out obamacare and let the free market work. The problem is the bribery from the insurance companies. THEY will get the no insurance penalty tax instead of the gov’t!! You know Ryan is bought.

RE: What is not being said in this comparison is does a 63 year old need all of the coverage Obama’s comprehensive mandated plans required, like maternity just for example, and countless other things they wouldn’t want? NO!!!!

CNN is not talking about Obamacare in this video, they’re talking about the GOP healthcare plan. I don’t think that plan includes any mandated things like maternity or abortion or mental health for those who don’t need it.

STILL, with NONE of the requirements, CNN tells us the CBO estimates that it would cost a 64 year old woman making 26K a year, 14K !! Hard to believe.

Exactly, and an individual making $26,500 a year should qualify for Medicaid assistance. They might not, but they should.

My preference, however, would be for her to get the cheapest catastrophic care insurance available, then have Medicaid subsidize her by paying her remaining premium (after the $4,500 tax credit under TrumpCare) rather than paying for here healthcare directly, as is done now. Then she would be a price conscious consumer of her care, hardly the case under the current Medicaid system.

It needs to get the Hell out now!<<

I agree on principle (but not on constitutionality), but you do realize you’re calling for the end of all Medicare, Medicaid, and VA expenditures, since all of these make direct payments to providers or, in the case of the VA, provide the direct care.

However, the government can, and should, have a say on how contracts should be structured and enforced and that’s what we’re talking about, i.e., insurance contracts, not healthcare per se.

You do realize that the 30% is a penalty for waiting until you get sick to take out insurance, right?

At least that’s the way it’s intended. It would be better to make it zero, as you want, but then allow the insurance company to exclude any pre-existing conditions if finds in a physical when you try to sign up after the initial enrollment period. That way, you’d get the benefit of waiting by saving premiums payments, but suffer the consequences personally of any healthcare costs you generated in the interim.
