A new report by the Congressional Budget Office estimates that a 64-year-old making $26,500 per year would pay $14,600 under the proposed American Health Care Act. CNN's Christine Romans breaks down all the numbers.

My first thought also.
That is no insurance at all. Unless someone get run over by a truck and end up in intensive care for a month, you will never get to use it.
RE: We now have NO insurance thanks to Obozo and the Dems.
My employer USED to provide our insurance FREE until Obozo got elected then he couldnt afford it any more.....

No insurance? The law says YOU PAY A FINE.
We’ve been without HC insurance since 1/1/2014. Saved over $40k after tax dollars and no penalty because of the 8% rule. There has been a single Doctor visit. It did no good (basically told us it will just work itself out) but only cost $50.
The deductible is so high with plans available today that they are simply not worth the money. Would you buy homeowners insurance if you basically paid for your house in premiums every two years? I wouldn’t. I’d take the risk.
Under 0bamacare, you pay the $14,000.
We have the Samaritan Ministries sharing arrangement.
$440/mo for ages 61 and 60. Unable to get employed.
What happens if you have a catastrophic health event that costs tens of thousands - or worse, hundreds of thousands of dollars to save your life of the life of your spouse?
Life is full of what ifs. It doesn’t mean I bankrupt myself to protect myself from a “what if”. I have the same health insurer as the apostle Paul used. He is the great physician.
And we don’t believe in “hundreds of thousands of dollars” solutions. That was spent on my wife’s first husband when he died of leukemia. Life is a mist. To live is Christ and to die is gain.
I see this life as the womb and the afterlife as the life outside the womb. Why would I want to fight to prolong the former when the Lord is trying to deliver me to the latter?
Kentucky. Yep.
The federal government has no constitutional authority to meddle in anyone’s healthcare.
It needs to get the Hell out now!
RE: To live is Christ and to die is gain.
So, the solution is to tell the poor person to just die so that he or she can quickly go to heaven?
That’s very easy to say, but that’s not going to win you any seat in Congress.
As much as I loathe CNN, examples like this are very fair game..health INSURANCE or health CARE should not bankrupt families or consume 30-50 or more % of their gross income - period.
Fact is, there are a lot of CHEAP ways to cure all sorts of stuff, and a lot of ways to prevent the bad stuff from happening in the first place. Proactively watching your diet and exercise are an EXCELLENT health care plan.
Trump indicated it would take several years for price to come down. Yet, Ryancare will jack up your premium by 30% if you don’t take insurance while waiting for costs to come down
So you are screwed either way.
Ryancare is not a plan. Screw him

Health care is like cars. You get the best you can afford. That means that some may have to ask for help, personally, from others, but that is how a free market solution works. And here is the rub: When you KNOW this and you don’t have much money, you will avoid things like fast food, cigarettes and other things that drastically increase your risk of expensive repairs.
But yes. In this country in this culture, the adult solution falls on deaf ears. “for the children” still plays loud and clear - even to many conservatives. It is impossible to get elected when you don’t offer more stuff.
And after a couple hundred years of this, it is why we are where we are today. :(
most of the population doesn’t - especially with most of the Obamacare plans which have astronomical deductibles and limited doctor coverage.
“The law says YOU PAY A FINE.”
If you get a refund
Actually making things worse for large numbers of people is political suicide. The anger is due to unaffordable medical insurance with very high deductibles. Older people in particular need insurance due to higher likelihood of needing medical care. It’s going to blow up in their faces, if this is what gets signed into law. People have lost their group plan policies because of Obamacare, which kept cost down. Then, there were government subsidies to keep cost down. Going with nothing to keep cost down is not solving anything, it’s making things worse.
The answer is price transparency, reimportation of drugs/equipment, patent reform, anti-trust breakup, etc. Otherwise you are either going to have to pick 2 options - 1) bankrupt the country 2) bankrupt a few individuals
My sister is poor
She pays $500 for her car payment and $325 for her cell phone payment.
But she can’t afford health insurance.
Under any replacement plan there will be winners and losers. Under a full repeal there would be winners and losers. It’s just the way it is. But people like Price are not doing th4emselves any favors when they go on TV and say that under the Republican plan nobody will be worse off.
As ridiculous as spending all that sounds, could she afford health insurance if she didn’t have the car payment and the cell phone plan? I’m thinking she couldn’t.
