Shock: 'Experts' recommend high fat diet for curing a significant disease
The American Thinker ^ | 03/15/17 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 03/15/2017 5:44:07 AM PDT by pgkdan

The ideology of Progressivism rests on the notion that “experts” should be given free rein to guide the populace in proper behavior, by persuasion if possible, but by governmental law and regulation if necessary. These “experts” could inform the disinterested administrators of a state powerful enough to impose itself on the behavior of the masses too ignorant to chart a personal course for themselves.

The folly of this view is nowhere exposed more nakedly than in the matter of personal eating habits. The advice of the “experts” has been so frequently wrong that the federal government’s dietary guidelines have repeatedly been revised. The “food pyramid” that recommended lots of grains is long gone, replaced by something called MyPlate from the US Department of Agriculture. Pushed by Michelle Obama, of course -- formerly our national food scold, and impetus for more thrown-away school cafetria food than anyone in the nation's history.

***Snip***

As a result, “fat-free” and “low fat” foods have crowded supermarket shelves for decades, even as we get fatter and fatter. I have learned to skip them, not only because they don’t satisfy the palate or the sense of hunger, but because I worry about the health effects of whatever is used to substitute for fat. Does it make sense that something the body craves, that nature supplies in abundance and that traditional cuisines from around the world use, is totally bad?

The growth rate of profits of Big Agriculture companies depend upon Americans and other global consumers to increase their intake of carbohydrates and reduce their intake of proteins and fat. As long as the opening phrase of the Constitution is “We the Big Globalist Institutions trying to control America” then our government shall legally be able to promote the interests of Big Ag, Big Pharma, etc. to bring about a one world socialist government where things like “We the People”, the Bill of Rights, and checks/balances have no place.

Hint: I just wrote cynical satire.

Well, golly gee, I was preaching to the choir, wasn’t I? Lol. I use cheaper butter for baking the kids cookies or whatever, but I use Kerrygold every morning to make my eggs. If ever I run out, and am forced to use “regular” cheaper organic butter, it is a JOKE. American butter is CLEARLY bound up with water. In the pan it sizzles and fizzes like I poured shampoo into the pan. Disgusting. Kerrygold is SO GOOD and it’s real, actual butter.

my wife would complain about the lack of counterspace for yet another device.

I’ll have to continue with a plastic measuring cup and the microwave.

Thanks for the tip though. I’m continuing to learn after drinking coffee black for 60 years or so

LOL...still good advice. I'm still interested in losing more weight. I'd like to get down to about 210 lbs, so I've got about 30 more lbs to go. This is the first time I've ever been on an eating plan where I haven't been hungry all the time and where I haven't felt deprived of all the 'good' food.

You want to avoid the sugar. Pgkdan is putting healthy fats in his coffee. Not sugar. Try real cream to get started.

“I’m stealing this one!”

One thing I forgot to mention, salt it to taste. It could be pretty bland without seasoning. I just used salt and a little white pepper.

The other thing to be aware of with chicken liver is they tend to come with bile sacs still attached. (the green ick) Cut that away and rinse the liver. If even a little of that bile gets into the pan, the dish is ruined.

You need to eat a clean, healthy diet of plants grown in the best soil you can find (organic better than not if storebought) and animals that lived as clean a life as possible and were healthy. Screw vegan (though if someone wishes to eat vegan, that is fine for them - I’m all for freedom). It’s not healthy for humans.

Oh my gosh, that is why I saw rows of pork rind bags of all kinds in Whole Foods the other day!!! I was wondering. I don’t go into WF much any more (but I love to) cause it’s too expensive for me now. But wow at their selection of pork rinds in the chip aisle. Keto folk must be using it in creative ways!

Now, I can’t eat that stuff, but I appreciate it for you all! ;) #notkosher

What is MCT oil?.

Medium chain triglycerides. It's immediately metabolized and produces ketones. researchers are having positive results treating Alzheimer patients with it.

If you haven’t read up on what your gut bugs enjoy, it might be the tweak you need? They have turned me into their slaves. And when they are happy, we are happy. They want a lot of vegetable and plant fibers. And since you know that fibers are free in counting carbs, you can get creative.

They want cooked and cooled potatoes, and one way to do that is to bake a tray of potatoes til amongst finished, then use them the next day when cooled, in your meals (you can warm them up, fry them a bit in butter, they will still be full of resistant starch).

Or, which is what my bugs beg me for daily, roasted veggies. I have to roast a tray of whatever root vegetable - it varies - about every other day. Any veggie just about works. The only one I have not liked is daikon radishes which grow bitter when roasted. A little olive oil and sea salt over the sliced veggies and into the oven at 400 for 20-30 mins (obviously, potatoes need much longer).

I can’t eat nuts, so I snack on roasted veg.

I do have a lot of fiber powders, and if you are worried about adding potatoes yet, you could start there. You can mix with water or raw milk or cream or kefir, whatever you eat. The best one, but start slow, is very cheap: potato starch. Very high in resistant starch. But also inulin, flax seed, maca, glucomannan, there are so many to try. Even starting with a teaspoon a day is fine. You can have some digestive changes the first day or so but it shouldn’t be dramatic. Add more as you get used to it. You can tell when you are making them gut bugs happy when they start giving you the best dreams. True.

I take a bunch of fiber powders every day in a bit of raw milk or raw milk kefir. But if I avoided dairy, I might mix them with water and maybe a small handful of strawberries or a green banana (green bananas have resistant starch too) in the blender.

I’m not keto but I might start it again because I probably am not far from keto. I avoid most useless carbs, no wheat, etc. already. You are inspiring me!

Thank you! I’m into the hunt now. Ketogenic sounds the best. I already eat lots of raw veggies, but my wheat intake must be changed dramatically. I am an IceCreamaholic, but have cut way back recently. Goint to figure ways to get coconut oil into the dietary intake because it supports Thyroid functioning.

I have a link in post 17 to a book by Dr. Phinney and Jeff Voleck that’s a great place to start. Go on Youtube and search for “Low Carb Down Under”. They post a ton of very useful information.

Statins... Eating a poison to reduce the body’s defensive reaction to a infection in fear of a disease you don’t have.

How very pharmaceutical...

Ok, here’s an alternative approach that doesn’t require counter space. Nuke 1 cup of milk in a 2 cup Pyrex measuring cup to about 140F. Whip it up with an Aerolatte milk frothing wand. Add in your coffee and vanilla flavoring. I do that when we travel, visit the in-laws, and such.

http://www.aerolatte.com/products/original/

I keep a Professional at the in-laws and have a To-Go for other travel, when I might have access to a microwave.

Even IF bacon is bad for ya, nothing like cheering up a feller with a big fat bacon sandwich with mayo. Oh the euphoria!
