Turkey Targets Dutch with Diplomatic Sanctions as 'Nazi' Row Escalates

Turkey said on Monday it would suspend high-level diplomatic relations with the Netherlands after Dutch authorities prevented its ministers from speaking at rallies of expatriate Turks, deepening the row between the two NATO allies.

The sanctions - which include a ban on the Dutch ambassador and diplomatic flights from the Netherlands but do not appear to include economic measures or travel restrictions for ordinary citizens - mark another low point in relations between Turkey and the European Union, which it still officially aims to join.

President Tayyip Erdogan, who is seeking Turkish voters' support in an April 16 referendum on boosting his powers as head of state, has previously accused the Dutch government of acting like "Nazi remnants" for barring his ministers from addressing expatriate Turks to drum up votes.

The Netherlands have a GDP of 853 Billion with 16.6 million.

The Netherlands is diversified into worldwide businesses in every imaginable field.

Per capita Turkey is about 20% of the Dutch. Good luck haji.

With every Turkish rant, Geert Wilders edges closer to becoming Holland’s next head of state.

Run your mouth, muzzie!

Stupid and avoidable. Erdogan is perfectly aware that (1) the Dutch are having their own election, and (2) Turkish electoral rallies will be regarded as highly provocative held just before. His election isn't until 16 April. He couldn't have waited a week?

Well, actually he could, of course, he just refused to, which is given the circumstances a very aggressive act and not one that should be foisted upon a NATO ally. He couldn't have helped Geert Wilders any more if he tried, and it looks like it might be worth FIVE SEATS to Dutch conservatives. If things in the Netherlands do not turn out to his advantage he has only his ham-handed political incompetence to blame.

He is an Islamist. He actually believes he is destined to rule the revived Ottoman empire.

He is totally insane. And totally evil.

Lately I have been studying, not for the first time, the Byzantine Empire. One of the sadly most under-appreciated eras of history among American students.

This was one-half of the Roman Empire, and it only fell a little over five hundred years ago. That isn't so long in the scheme of things. And counting the modern state of Turkey, it was just two administrations previous.

The Roman Empire is not so ancient history after all.

You are totally correct.

They fell because the West undermined them for many years.

With a little support they could have survived.

Imagine the modern world with the Roman Empire.

Hard to tell what will happen in Turkey.

It has been said in Turkey that Erdogan is Insane. He may be, or just Evil.

Guess we will see how far this goes.

If the Dutch are Nazis, Erdogan is a Turkish member of ISIS.

If you look at Turkey’s debt and trade balance numbers the real mystery is why their economy hasn’t collapsed already. Its going to happen eventually.

Years ago Erdogan created new banks on the justification that they would conform to Islamic law. These banks have been handing out money on generous terms for years, its only a matter of time until they collapse. Turkey itself has been running huge trade deficits and their currency is bound to collapse. If you look at the numbers the miracle is it hasn’t already happened.
