Why are so many Hungarians deported? A look at Canada's 'Unwelcome Index'
Globe and Mail ^

Posted on 03/12/2017 1:11:53 PM PDT by ameribbean expat

The data shows Canada removed Hungarian citizens in disproportionate numbers over the past few years. The story of those thousands of unwelcome people contrasts with international perceptions of Canada's warm embrace of foreigners.

My Army buddies on a four day pass from Germany ran into a Gypsy colony in the former Yugoslavia. It was rather surreal. A few years later, the region would see hell.

"Between 2011 and 2015, the Slovak Republic, Croatia and the Czech Republic rounded out the Unwelcome Index's top four. It's no coincidence that all are Eastern European countries with sizeable Roma populations."

In brief, the Canadians figured out what the Hungarians, Czechs and Slovaks have known for a long time: that Gypsies are largely lying, thieving scum not fit to immigrate to Canada.

Yes Gypsies are an entirely different problem and I don’t blame the Canadians for expelling them. But any opportunity to tweak the oh so superior Canucks is too tempting to pass up.

The reminders of the past, the horrors of the potato famine, were very sad.

Agreed. The Irish people have withstood horrors, the famine being one of the cruelest. My ancestors left Ireland in the mid-late 1800's (I'm the youngest of the youngest of the youngest...and I'm no longer young). The stories I've heard indicated that both in Ireland and here the early arrivals suffered greatly. But now the grandchildren and succeeding generations are living a life of comfort that they,125+ years ago, wouldn't even dare dream of.

My family (and other families as well) could be poster children for the American Dream.

But being white,Christian and of a moral sexual preference things may change for people like us.

My wife and I backpacked around Europe for a couple of months in’81. All the Canadians sewed a Maple Leaf to their backpacks so the wouldn’t be mistaken for ugly Americans.

Every time I saw one, I’d make a point of asking them what part of the States they were from just to piss them off (ugly American here).

The old joke is that the Canadian national motto is : "We're #1 in not being American!"

Post 1956 Hungarian Revolution Canada took in large numbers of Hungarian refugees. These people assimilated rapidly, embracing Canada and its culture. Productive and educated, or having trade skills, they made a positive contribution to Canada.
However, those Hungarians were not of the Roma variety ...

Anyone who has visited Europe and had an opportunity to interact with the fascinating culture of the Roma there will have no difficulty figuring out why Canada asks so many to leave. “Unwelcome” just about nails it.

Origins in the north of India. Lots of European intermarrying since then.
