Critics of the border wall proposed by President Trump have said the cost is prohibitive under current budget and economic conditions, that no way is Mexico going to pay for it, and shifting funds away from the TSA, Coast Guard, and FEMA are counterproductive in terms of national security.
These criticisms ignore the costs to the U.S. in terms other than money -- increased crime, overtaxed law enforcement, the drain on public resources such as education, medical care, etc., and the driving down of real wages through an endless supply of cheap labor.
In fact, thanks in large part to the mere threat of the wall, the sudden enforcement of existing law, and the stripping of funding from sanctuary cities by President Trump, illegal immigration has plummeted by 40 percent in February, a trend that if continued will reduce the costs and burdens of illegal immigration to the point that the benefits of enhanced border security, including the wall, will be more than paid for. As the New York Post noted:

Tax remittances at 5%.
Sobieski is once again correct.
Will the wall become part of the infrastructure project? Might as well, because without the wall there is no USA.
If you ask Bela Pelosi, she’ll say it will cost more than a wall from here to the moon, walls cause global warming and they don’t work anyway, Mexican drug cartels are just hard working people, and we need more condoms for gay kangaroos.
tax Western Union remittances at 50%.
Simple.
UNDER BUDGET TOO. :)
I was surprised to see my Samsung TV was manufactured in Tijuana, Mexico in 2014.
Just damn!
The wall is a worthwhile investment, no matter who pays for it.
You Can’t Print That!

It probably only understands Spanish so you’re likely OK.
Si.
The border wall will be analogous to our strong military. If it deters the enemy, it’s done its job and, yes, arguably, is “unnecessary.” However, assuming we don’t have the strong military or the wall, they ARE necessary RIGHT NOW!
BTW, yes, Juan still might be able to get over the wall, but Juanita and the 17 kids won’t be able to get over it and if Trump gets rid of the chain migration BS, our illegal problem will be largely a thing of the past.
Bkmk
Looks like the wall is preceding the infrastructure - it is its own project.
Should be the same here & then enforce them....I bet mexico does.
I agree with the 50% tax on Western Union sending money from America to Mexico. PLUS, any tariff we pay for goods entering Mexico, they will pay a like tariff for goods they send into America. Don’t ever forget. We developed the oil industry in their country with our engineers, money etc. When it up and running, the Mexicans nationalized it and then they kicked us out, with NO thank you. No reimbursement of any kind. How about a surcharge on visas for Mexicans entering our country then make sure when the visa expires, they are back in their own country.

Yep. Tariffs and taxes against Mexico will make Mexico deal with their problems instead of sending them north. The more we tax them the more they will learn to become self sufficient and the more our industry will grow ....on this side of THE WALL.
