Republican Senator in PA Says “College is Not For Black Students” (liberal witch hunt alert)
The Black Home School ^ | March 9 2017 | Victor Trammell

Many people believe that the opportunity to receive a quality education is a human right fit for all regardless of their race, creed, or socioeconomic status.

However, there are private and public figures in the American power structure who do not agree with that notion. In fact, a senator in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania believes that black students, in particular, are better fits for vocational schools than they are for college or university attendance.

This appeared on my FB news feed. What is it with these people? Inventing racism in the senator's comments where absolutely none existed (he just simply said that ones from inner city areas might be more suited for learning a decent, practical trade as opposed to being in university).

A nation without plumbers and electricians would be as worthless as one without brain surgeons. One needn’t go to college to make at least a decent (if not fantastically wealthy) living.

If you can’t find real ‘racism’, then make it up.

This is the Commie MO for the past 30 years - at least.

They are liars every single one of them.

Strange, I thought it was the dems who try to keep the blacks uneducated and on welfare so they can control the votes better.

Funny thing is I know plenty of electricians and techs without degrees making way more than those with MBA’s and 4 year degrees.

It is disingenuous for both The Black Home School and the Pittsburgh Courier to misquote/misstate/revise his exact quote - not bothering to even print it, apparently - brackets and insertions, omissions and paraphrasing is not “quoting.”

That’s absolutely right.

Fashion has made it undesirable for certain classes to go into these trades, which means basically they are undersupplied, and the money is not bad at all. It takes intelligence and hard work, like anything else, but not necessarily a college degree.

Yup,if you willing to put in an honest day's work you can have a comfortable life as a plumber or electrician.Nothing wrong at all with a late model Chevy or Honda in the driveway. And if you put your heart and soul into it you can even have a Mercedes in the driveway.

I can go a lot longer without a philosopher than I can without a plumber.

"...education is a human right"

Got to admit I stopped reading right there. Victor could use some education himself.

The society which scorns excellence in plumbing as a humble activity and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy because it is an exalted activity will have neither good plumbing nor good philosophy: neither its pipes nor its theories will hold water.

I know many people working in trades, including black men and women, who are making over $100K/yr with only 4 or 5 years experience. It certainly isn't dummy work, either. There is a lot to learn. The problem here isn't racism. It is the negative stigma attached to trade work.

the opportunity to receive a quality education is a human right

Education is neither received nor given.

It is taken by a hungry mind. Almost all the problems with high school and college could be solved by ending compulsory education after Grade 8.

Agree, the guy made a smart statement but gets ripped, because of the ever present racist charge.

A Journeyman Electrician makes an average of $32.50 an hour or around $70,000 per year BEFORE overtime & Benefits. The average salary for a person with a college degree is $48,000. The AVERAGE Electrical engineer makes around $65,000. The average Business degree holder makes around $52,000.

Perhaps the good legislator is on to something?!

Comfortable life as a plumber?

Have you ever called a plumber? They charge $50 to answer their own phone!
