A week after postponing the first trial of a biker indicted in the May 2015 Twin Peaks shootout, a judge has set another trial date.
Judge Ralph Strother of Waco's 19th State District Court set May 22 for Christopher Jacob Carrizal's trial to start on a first-degree felony engaging in organized criminal activity charge.
If the trial starts that day, it will come a week after the two-year anniversary of the deadly shootout in which nine bikers were killed and more than 20 were injured.
Strother granted a request from Stephenville attorney Landon Northcutt last week to postpone an April 17 trial setting. At that time, it was not known which of Northcutt's three clients — Christopher Jacob Carrizal; his father, Christopher Julian Carrizal; or Jerry Edward Pierson — would be tried first.
All three of the Dallas-area men are members of the Bandidos, the motorcycle group that clashed with the Cossacks at a meeting of the Coalition of Clubs and Independents at the former Waco restaurant.
Northcutt said Friday he might have to seek another continuance because he still is waiting for the McLennan County District Attorney's Office to provide him with more discovery materials in the case.
"We will have to see, but when you don't have your discovery, it is hard to have a trial," Northcutt said. "We are still waiting, and there is just so much that I don't have at this point."
District Attorney Abel Reyna did not return a phone message on Friday. His first assistant, Michael Jarrett, declined comment, saying he could not discuss pending matters.
Northcutt said he is at a loss to explain why Jacob Carrizal, a 36-year-old railroad engineer, was selected as the first of the 155 indicted bikers to go to trial.
He said he has not seen his client in any of the videos of the event taken by restaurant or police cameras.
In seeking the continuance last week, Northcutt said the DA's office recently provided Twin Peaks defense attorneys with a terabyte's worth of information and evidence in the case and he needs more time to analyze the information.
A terabyte is equal to 1,024 gigabytes.
Strother said he still plans to have a large jury panel brought in March 24 for a Twin Peaks trial so the group can fill out questionnaires to aid attorneys in jury selection.

Doesn’t sound like it’s necessarily even about the shooting. He’s being charged with being a Bandido, basically.
I do feel like they need to go ahead and charge someone with the shooting deaths of the seven people. If this is merely a RICO case, regardless of its melts, they are still avoiding the main issue.
There are civil suits pending. Criminal trials will help the many innocent people charged maliciously get evidence for their suits. Many of the dead were likely not doing anything worthy of being shot by police snipers. Justice includes them.
The bungling way in which this was handled by the “mounties” ironically confirms the underlying model of outlaw, which is that the law has gone rotten and therefore private associations are needed to preserve the rights of the people.

And frankly as a Christian I think it stinks that the law has forgotten God. It is my hope, and perhaps many others’ that the Trump revolution will spread to become a God revolution. Donald Trump can only personally do so much, but what his advent signifies could do far, far more.

There are all kinds in actual “outlaw” biker associations (and even they lean on the law — copyright law — for their logo branding). The good, the bad, the ugly (and the beautiful).
Like the proverbial Robin Hood, this is God’s semi-satisfactory answer to when the authorities aren’t being servants of God (cf. Romans 13). The lesser of evils, sometimes. The real answer is for everyone to remember God again and let God cleanse them.
If it were possible under American canons of law to actually ban Bandidos (which can be an ironic moniker as some haven’t stolen anything and have in fact been generous) it would have happened years ago.

But I should expect such inverted simplism out of an easy-believer (a Christian who does not put his or her own skin in the Jesus game because his or her “love” is in name only).
Between these cases and the shenanigans at Baylor, I’m beginning to believe Waco is caught in some kind of special Twilight Zone that not even Rod Serling could narrate.
When religion rots, it can emit a pretty peculiar stench.
For example look at Gator Mouth who acts a lot like a Waco mountie apologist.
Oh, these outlaws were at breastaurants, in a family plaza (huh? contradiction already) when they should have been sitting with the rest of the hypocrites in the churches that didn’t even think about trying to minister to bikers.
Jesus came to set this kind of junk straight, but he ended up getting the outlaw treatment too, with a hey nonny nonny and a ha-cha-cha on the cross.

You can’t pin Jesus to your shirt as a badge which is exactly what you have been doing. You must grasp Jesus as life in your heart. You will discover you have been looking at a whole lot of things upside-down (but like the world does) once you do.
You attempt to sting through your friend Satan but the shield of faith puts it out.
But YOU will feel the sting if you keep on cruising this way to eternity. Oh I mouthed the doctrines, you will tell Jesus. “I NEVER KNEW YOU” He will reply.
