The premises it is based on are false. Good intentions are not enough if they result in evil effects.

Swedes have largely adopted a posture of passive reliance on govern ment, which they tend to see as a body of people smarter than they are, and who will take care of them. Like parents will take care of children. Many resist anything which rattles this comfortable world view. Government's failure to protect them from savage aliens will have a traumatic effect on the people when it sinks in.
The backlash could be severe.

The word "backlash" comes to mind, and it's not going to end well.
IMHO, Europe has these historical cycles of stasis followed by (often violent) upheaval. If I were a Muslim or one of those excusing abuses by the more egregious offenders, I would start to worry.
