Billionaire George Soros fuels Democrats’ push to lower voting age to 17

Stung by recent election defeats, Democrats are leading the charge to lower the voting age to 17, with a little help from liberal billionaire George Soros. In California, Democratic legislators introduced this week a landmark bill, ACA 10, that would give the Golden State the nation’s youngest statewide voting age by lowering the threshold from 18 to 17 in the name of reversing the slide in voter turnout. “Young people are our future,” said Democratic Assembly member Evan Low, the measure’s sponsor. “Lowering the voting age will help give them a voice in the democratic process and instill a lifelong habit of voting.” The proposal comes as the most ambitious of a host of efforts to chip away at the 18-year-old voting age as Democrats seek to bring into the fold younger voters, who traditionally support more liberal causes and candidates than do their elders. “It is a transparent ploy to pad the Democratic vote,” said John J. Pitney Jr., American politics professor at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California, referring to the California bill.

How about prohibiting voting by anyone OVER 17? That would get this whole debacle over with in a big hurry.

But in Obamacare they wanted to keep these same “children” on the plan until 26?

And a federal voter identification card required. In order to get the card, one must provide proof of citizenship, ability to communicate in English, proof of permanent residence with deed or executed lease, and proof of payment of federal income taxes. In case liberals might object, I’d point out that there would be no poll tax.

Does it really matter? You take any man or womne on the street of any city in America and 95 percent of them have no idea who anyone governing is, what the laws are, knows anything about the constitution or history

Better idea: follow Robert Heinlein's philosophy of government in Starship Troopers. NO voting rights whatsoever unless a person earns citizenship by serving at least two years voluntarily in the military. Same with eligibility to run for public office (which would disqualify Pelosi, Waters, Franken, Schumer, and a lot of others).

Mr. DuBois' lecture to his students encapsulates why this would be a good thing. Indeed, his discussion of the failures of American society at the turn of the twentieth century are downright prophetic.

I've got a better idea.

How 'bout we forget about age altogether and restrict voting instead by allowing only those who have paid at least $1000 more in taxes than they have received from all governments for any reason during the previous year.
