I don't trust anyone who was part of the power structure before Trump was inaugurated. Some may be okay, but my gut feeling is that most are snakes, Republicans included.

J Edgar Hoover served 48 years as head of the FBI. Congress established the 10 year term limit following Hoover’s tenure.
Comey serves at the will of the POTUS. He can be terminated... prior to close of business on any given day.
His comment was likely a poor attempt at humor.
