Ignoring the tedious rhetoric of the rest of this opinion piece the example does not pass the smell test (for fake news). Currently the only reason Mr. Hernandez would come to the attention of ICE is that he committed some fairly serious crime or skipped previous immigration court dates. The author seems to have left out some details that us racist, xenophobic, dishonest, and misogynistic Trump supporters would like to know.

A few said awful things to me, but most don’t fall easily into the caricature that has developed around them. Most didn’t support all of Trump’s policies (to the extent they knew what those policies were) and some had legitimate grievances.
