Deputies to receive pay instead of time off during Twin Peaks trials

WACO, Texas (KWTX) McLennan County officials have agreed to pay overtime to Sheriff’s Office employees who provide extra security when the Twin Peaks shooting trials start in April.

County commissioners made the decision this week knowing much of the costs could eventually be recovered by the state.

Following the deadly May 17, 2015 shootout between rival biker gangs which left nine dead and more than 20 more injured, more than $268,000 in grants was provided by the state for associated costs.

Currently, deputies, jailers, and other MCSO employees are given compensatory time in lieu of overtime pay, forcing them to take time off, which according to MCSO officials, means other employees have to be called-in to work overtime to fill in the gaps, creating a never-ending cycle.

Chief Deputy David Kilcrease said the biker trials were going to cause a large drain on their manpower and man hours, but the increase in security is absolutely needed.

“Anytime you have something high-profile where the news media is going to be there, that’s the time for people to act out,” said Kilcrease. “It’s going to be on a world stage. We have to make sure that we are watching everything.”

Kilcrease said they were going to be beefing-up security inside and outside the courthouse, and they’re asking for additional help from the U.S. Marshals Service, the Department of Justice, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other local agencies including the Woodway Public Safety Department.

With 155 bikers indicted, officials said the trials could go on for the next several years.

Sounds like might be advertising for trouble, same officers that helped out at Twin Peaks?

Sounds like a siesta pace.

Not as many were arrested as The Great Texas Kmart Raid.

Its cases took over ten years.

Lemme know the next time the cops in Texas kill 9 drug traffickers in one incident and then arrest and try a hundred or so of them.

Guess they’re askeered of the real bad guys and just had to go after the Deplorables on bikes.

Best to stay out of Police Department jurisdiction.

This will bankrupt Waco and there is no evidence of anything. It was classic self defense!! WAKE UP WACO!! 5 of the deaths were from police rifles (.223) . This is going to be fun to watch. I am glad I am not paying for this fiasco. YEARS!!!!

Very sick of you to compare biker gangsters to upright law-abiding Trump supporters ...

Cops didn’t kill nine. Actually, bikers say the cops quick actions saved many lives.

LOL!

Self-defense goes right out the window when two gangs assemble for a brawl.
