Ohio LGBT Group Announces Plans to Target Churches for Homosexual Weddings
PJ Media ^ | February 23, 2017 | Tyler O'Neil

An LGBT organization in Ohio has announced plans to target churches if they refuse to offer their property to be used in a homosexual wedding. In opposing the Ohio Pastors Protection Act (HB-36), the group Equality Ohio announced that they would target churches, forcing them to rent church facilities to groups which oppose that church's beliefs. This despite the fact that all the Roman Catholic bishops in Ohio support the bill, and Catholics make up approximately 20 percent of the state's population.

When asked "if a church community has a church hall that they rent to couples who want to have that wedding reception in that hall ... should that church hall and church community be forced to rent that to someone who wants to use that building for something that's against that church community's belief system," an Equality Ohio spokeswoman said, "Sure, I would say that if that space is open and generally available to the public for a fee, yes that should be available to everyone."

This statement may seem innocent enough, but to Representative Nino Vitale (R-Urbana), the author of HB-36, it is a declaration of war. "If you have property rights and religious freedom, shouldn't you have religious freedom, at least on your own property?" Vitale asked in an interview with PJ Media.

Specifically, Vitale suggested that the ACLU of Ohio, which he described as "a large cash cow organization that exists to sue people," and which opposed the Ohio Pastors Protection Act last year, would target churches if HB-36 does not pass. "That's what they aim to do," he explained.

The Gaystapo isn’t content with tolerance for their lifestyle. They want normal people to embrace their mental illness.

It’s the same reason that homosexual agenda promoters insist on holding marches in the streets of the Holy City of Jerusalem (strange thing, isn’t it, that they don’t hold those parades in the Holy City of Mecca).

Those who carry out homosexual behavior know in their hearts that marching in Jerusalem is the pinnacle of obnoxiousness and their choice of behavior is wrong in the eyes of God and man. They want to erase the voice that is inside them - the voice of God. Jerusalem is a Holy city for Jews and Christians. The practitioners of homosexuality push the sight of their behavior at people they know will be and have good right to be offended. In short, they are throwing their behavior at God.

It’s a case of extreme childishness and arrogance and narcissism of the petulant, spoiled youngster demanding that everyone applaud whatever he does. Applauding whatever a kid does these days is the way children are raised. Tell them they are so creative, no matter what dribble the child is producing. Give him a trophy for showing up.

These enemies of God are using the West’s legal system, one derived from God’s law, to kill God. They are so proud of themselves for their “creativity.” Their parents, of course, are also proud, because anything their little boy does needs to be praised. . .so as not to stifle his self-esteem.

These attacks are planned, completely unconstitutional, and likely to succeed. I hope the evil thugs behind these attacks are stopped.

Why do you (or any of you!) think it’s only the Catholic church affected by this??

Bible-believing evangelical churches such as mine (fundamental Baptist) are, I dare say, more at risk from these attacks by the sodomites, and this will become apparent. We don’t “rent out” our churches.

Get off the “Catholics are the only moralists” stuff. Really? Like Nancy Pelosi?

Please excuse my rare anger, but this did it.

> So now this is where we are?? Now churches will be sued anyway, in spite of the liberals assurances that they were only seeking CIVIL marriage rights, as opposed to forcing others to perform homosexual marriage ceremonies??????

Liars lie. Liberals will do and say anything to get their way. Never make a deal with the devil. You'll get burnt every time.

It isn’t a “rant”, it is an observation by someone who was raised Catholic, graduated from a Jesuit university and finally had enough while living in California in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

Roger Mahoney, then then cardinal in Los Angeles, urged people to vote for democrats and embraced every left-wing cause known to man, including “gun-control” and open borders. He was also connected to the priest sex scandal.

It’s not just the pope who has drifted to the far left. I’ve seen it throughout the church and it only has gotten worse over the years.

The church keeps lurching further and further to the left and the end result will be either a schism or worse.

There is no such thing as a homosexual wedding.

They need to check out the Catechism:

Catechism of the Catholic Church

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

I guess you can say I am a lapsed Catholic. I have not converted to another faith.

The last time I attended mass at a Catholic Church was in December, 2007.....it was my father’s funeral.

Being of Italian descent, all of my relatives are (or were) Catholic at one time. Most still are. Some are devout, some are not. Some are cafeteria Catholics.

My mother’s first cousin is a retired priest in Italy.

I have to say, I’m not impressed by someone who attends church every Sunday. What impresses me is the way a man....or a woman....comports themselves in their everyday lives, beyond the confines of the church edifice.

Because the Catholic Church is the largest and oldest organized Christian entity. The protestant churches are numerous and none have the structure of the Catholic Church. Many protestant sects have split over the years due to differences in doctrinal belief; the Catholic Church has remained intact. The Church represents the biggest threat to the leftists/communists/socialists, etc. because it does what government has never been able to do nor has ever wanted to do well—run schools, hospitals, nursing homes, food pantries, and charities all over the world in keeping with Christ’s message. If the Catholic Church falls, so does the rest of Christianity. The left has managed to infect many branches of protestant sects. They have even infiltrated the Catholic Church i.e., Pope Francis. Yet, they still have not destroyed it. My statement is not a claim about moral superiority over protestants. And Nancy Pelosi is not Catholic no matter how much she says she is just like Obama is not a Christian as he claimed he was.

Churches do not “rent” halls for weddings. They make them available for weddings in accord with that church’s beliefs. Often they suggest a donation to cover utilities, custodial, and other expenses. Oftentimes they don’t ask even that. And they don’t require that. Nor did I take money for conducting weddings or funerals.

I ensured such language was in our facilities policy.

Revealing their ultimate goal: destroying the Catholic church.

That's always been the goal, and not just the catholic church. It's always been about attacking and destroying Christianity. Said this more than 10 years ago.

Seriously, who didn't see this coming?
