I hope he skips it for all eight years. It has been a very unseemly and inappropriate event.
In the Obama era it was just an opportunity for the press to give him a tongue bath and tell barbed jokes written by highly paid comedy writers about their common enemies.

That is the thing about President Trump. He has done all this stuff already so it is not of interest to him anymore. Been there, done that type of thing. Same with throwing a baseball at an opening game. Did it. He is going to again be very different from other Presidents who never participated in these type of things before.
I am so glad he is not going.
Remember in 2011 when Trump was the butt of Obama’s jokes at the dinner?

Plus, our now President Trump had to sit there while the pompous Barry Soetero made fun of him at one of the more recent dinners. I knew right then that Donald would get his revenge.
Added to this, the entertainment has often been low level humor and classless.
I will no longer watch until it is cleaned up and the press corps is more professional. Until then, they don't deserve a dinner.
And that might have a lot to do with why Trump is not attending now. He knows the dinner will not be worth a damn w/o him there.
I totally agree with President Trump. It is more important for him to continue working on conversion of America to be the greatest America in history.
