Trump-Reagan parallels are scary, but not for the reasons critics think
Fox News ^ | February 24, 2017 | Tammy Bruce

The media laugh at any attempt to compare President Trump to former President Ronald Reagan, but there are many similarities, not the least of which are the withering attacks both men endured before and after they sought the presidency.

The extraordinary assaults by media, celebrities and jealous politicians against Trump have been unending. Their attacks include questioning his mental health, repeatedly comparing him to Hitler, declaring him a fascist, insisting he’s a modern-day Manchurian candidate, that he’s a traitor (because Russians!), and on and on.

Don’t apologize. You are concerned and that’s okay. Like the rest of us, you’re invested in Trump being successful.

I think Pence (big pal of Ryan and Priebus) could end up being a bigger problem than realized.

The Flynn affair was a first real glimpse of it.

Both were performers, entertainers. This common experience made both men very comfortable in their own skin, confident in all kinds of setting and groups, and excellent communicators.

You need to go watch Pence’s speech from CPAC last night. Let not your heart be troubled.

I like Mike Pence. but I think he leaked that he was Trump’s VP pick before Trump officially released that info. So Mike is not totally “leak proof,” IMO.

I’m not worried about Trump’s core supporters. As Rush said, they’re not going anywhere. I’m worried about the squishy middle.

When Trump's policies start bearing fruit (and they will if he succeeds in punching them through), that should take care of the squishy middle.

REAGANS biggest mistake George Bush
My dear old Dad was a Republican committeeman. When Pres Reagan announced Bush Sr as his running mate, he predicted there would be problems. Even Jesse Jackson, for once, was right, STAY OUT DA BUSHES!

Considering that Obama was well to the left of the socialist spectrum just like the fascists, and that Obama was a real Manchurian candidate, it looks like the Ctrl-Left is mindlessly recycling what we said about their failed usurper.

Reagan was not a self-funded billionaire.

He allowed the GOPe to blackmail him into taking their Trojan Horse as VP in exchange for them not fighting him tooth and nail for the candidacy (like they did to Goldwater), knowing that the treacherous Bush would try to undo all he had done.

I do not blame Reagan for that; he was not Trump.

I blame Reagan for illegal alien amnesty.

I think Trump may very well become the new standard by which future presidents are measured.

He’s got to stop the leaks and receive accurate timely intelligence. That’s how they could set him up. I think he will be immune to media attacks if his agenda is enacted. Prosperity is a hard thing to argue against. Money doesn’t talk it swears.

In a few years (after the 2020 election) there will be a thing called the Democratic party, but it won’t be run by these self-described “progressives” anymore. I think the battle is beginning now to figure out who is going to run it.

The DNC selection process for their new leader seemed to reflect that.

I don’t know much about the guy they wound up with, but I note they didn’t go for the obvious problematic guy. (this other one may be too though)

Not Trump - or any of the rest of us are trying to ‘destroy’ the media - we just want them honest.

Do you understand the difference?
