I could see a lot of people speaking whatever the F necessary into a microphone to get relief after after long periods in captivity, particularly if it involved repeated and incessant physical and psychological torture... probably not unlike captives in the middle-east you see finally showing up in videos pleading as well as praising their captors. I’m a stubborn and defiant SOB the more I’m held down or back into a corner and could never imagine saying something like that, but who can say what his conditions were like.
... not saying it’s impossible he doesn’t have deep manchurian candidate like sympathies though. That thought has occurred to me many times about McCain over the years.

John McCain is leading a vicious campaign against the Russian government since the November election.
In January McCain suggested the Russian “hacking” of the election was an “act of war.”
But it wasn’t that long ago that Senator McCain requested campaign donations from Russian officials.
Wikileaks released documents this week following the sudden death of Russian UN ambassador Vitaly Churkin.
There are several documents on McCain’s request for donations from the Russians.
In 2008 the Russian mission released a letter on a fundraising attempt from John McCain.
According to Reddit users John McCain illegally asked for campaign donations from the Russian Ambassador. (the same ambassador that died suddenly on Monday) This globalist shrieks about Russian influence while he himself participated in it.
The Russians told McCain they would not donate to his campaign.
There is much about John McCain I don’t like, including his disregard for the office of the President, not to mention the man himself, Donald Trump.
THAT’S JUST PLAIN WRONG ON MCCAIN’S PART AND HE SHOULD KNOW BETTER.
However, according to highly decorated Bud Day, his “cellmate” at the Hanoi Hilton, McCain WAS a hero.
I’ll take Bud Day’s testimony over all the folks posting BS (who don’t know him AT ALL).
I have met John McCain and I know he doesn’t flaunt his heroism for his actions as a POW — who did physical therapy on Bud Day while they both were prisoners.
I know a lot of Vietnam Vets as well and they seem to feel approximately the same about McCain as they do about the amazing “war hero” John Kerry.
I believe that President Trump has performed greater service to this country than Mr. McCain could ever dream of giving.
