Jackie Evancho, the opera singer who performed at Donald Trump's inauguration last month, said Wednesday evening that she was "disappointed" in his administration's decision to roll back protections for transgender students.
Evancho, whose sister is transgender, asked to meet with the president to discuss transgender rights.
On Wednesday, the Trump administration withdrew guidelines set by former President Barack Obama's administration that allowed transgender students in public schools to use bathrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identity.
"@realDonaldTrump u gave me the honor 2 sing at your inauguration. Pls give me & my sis the honor 2 meet with u 2 talk #transgender rghts," Evancho wrote.
She also tweeted, "I am obviously disappointed in the @POTUS decision to send the #transgender bathroom issue to the states to decide. #sisterlove"

They weren’t protections to start with. They were special dispensations and exemptions that put the users above the law, morality and equal protection under the law.
By “protection”, they mean the right of a boy to use a girl’s bathroom. But that’s not a right guaranteed by the Constitution, so it’s not a right.
It wasn’t “protection” any more than businesses paid the mob for protection. It was coercion.
Does anyone remember that flaming “whatever” that was on America’s Got Talent when Jackie was on?
It always creeped me out that this precious little girl was submitted to being exposed to that guy on the show. Now I’m wondering how much the brother was exposed to him.
decision to roll back protections special privileges for transgender students. There fixed it.
This all should be state issues, not federal. On the other hand, since we have a constitutional right to bear arms, the states should stay out of that. Why does a Maine or Vermont person have more gun rights than me in New Jersey? The government has to get this all straightened out regarding who is responsible for what. Too much federal government but not in the case of Amendments, etc.
1. Who cares what some singer, who's probably just virtue-signaling, says?
2. Her opinion isn't more relevant just because she performed at the inauguration.
Transgender-—when being gay just isn’t enough to stand out in a crowd.
I agree. Anything to make Trump look bad.
And the MSM is losing, yet they are doubling down.
Her “sister” doesn’t need special privileges. “She” could pass for female enough to just walk into a women’s bathroom and use it. If “she” needs to undress in front of real women, then “she” needs to have her male parts removed first. Problem solved.
America doesn’t need to change. Just have the surgery.
So many screwed up kids...
Doesn’t she have an agent or somebody to tell her to keep a sock in it? Is she trying to end up singing back up for the Dixie Chicks?
The world revolves around her freak sister.
Exactly right. This propaganda narrative building by the left.
They were never “protections”. They were special privileges.
Can she be retroactively removed from the inaugural?
If she thinks Obama’s orders were a proper action for the FEDERAL government she should be a democrat any way.
There are some Ds talking about states rights these days because of fear of Trump - pot, sanctuary cities, etc. I’d love that discussion to grow and get both sides to agree that the feds are too big & powerful.
She has a brother who pretends he is a girl. She plays along. Sad!
She is young and loves her brother. So she’s sympathetic to his situation. That is how we had same-sex marriage inflicted on the country. Some gays sidled up to ‘Justice’ Kennedy and his sympathies led him to vote for it. When it becomes personal, the Left frequently wins. She’s obviously not very religious or she would see the truth.
