The Writing Center at the University of Washington is telling students that expecting Americans to use proper grammar perpetuates racism.
A press release put out by the University of Washingtons Writing Center argues that there is no inherent standard of English, and that pressure to conform to proper American grammar standards perpetuate systems of racism.
Linguistic and writing research has shown clearly for many decades that there is no inherent standard of English, claims the writing centers statement. Language is constantly changing. These two facts make it very difficult to justify placing people in hierarchies or restricting opportunities and privileges because of the way people communicate in particular versions of English.
The universitys Writing Center Director, Dr. Asoa Inoue, suggests that racism has produced certain unfair standards in education.
It is a founding assumption that, if believed, one must act differently than we, the institution and its agents, have up to this point, Inoue claimed. While overt racism is usually easily identified, more elusive are microaggressions, forms of degradation which manifest on a subconscious and casual level. As the statement reads Racism is pervasive. It is in the systems, structures, rules, languages, expectations, and guidelines that make up our classes, school, and society.

If that was verified by “studies”, researchers would surely conclude blacks were victims of racism for feeling the need to change their speech patterns.
What would be the conclusion if whites were found to need to change theirs when around blacks? Again, that whites are racist.
Well, it’s just an interesting thought experiment on the useless university groupthink we’re living under.
Aw, sit man! That sit be wrong! Jaknow?
Employers, a suggestion.
(I’m retired.)
Take note of the different universities that are condoning the cry of “racism” concerning the major language of business in America.
Any of those graduates of those universities should be able to pass a 4th grade English language test question. Insert one into your employment candidate’s employment examination. Any backwash about the test question other than answering the question disqualifies them, by their own words.
Soooo, according his usage of absolutely perfect English on his “Introduction” page, am I to assume he’s a racist?
... according to ...
Well, yes. I would guess so. I wonder how long it took him to craft that opening.
Didn’t this used to be called Ebonics?
Subject = It
Verb = is
But, even discussing ‘subject’ implies someone ruled by a Monarch.
Check out the beginning of Moonlight. If you can understand what those guys are saying, you’re a better man than I.
Don’t stay for the rest, though, unless you are okay with pot promotion and porn.
And then we can argue about the definition of “is”.
Ain’t that a load of crap
If a white human does it, made it, thunk it - verb it - whatever it is - is racists. Its good that we are seeing the end to this age rather than the beginning. Yes these people are the laughing stock of the nation. They have no idea now how much transparency has infiltrated into their safespace. 10 years from now things are going to look very different - this BS is not going to be tolerated with malice for a whole host of reasons - soon. They literally want to break the language - higher education is racist!
I committed a gender microaggression there.

After reading all the comments, I have deduced that the Headline contains a typo.
Should be:
University of Washington Declares Proper Grammar Is Rapist
Whitey trying to rape the Erf and all the poor folk, you know.
I will be sure to mention that at my show trial.
This is garbage! Recently, I had a former student, who happened to be black, thank me on Facebook, for encouraging her to speak and write correctly. She is a teacher now and I know she will encourage her students too. That’s what teachers are supposed to do!
Ignorance is strength!
