Two men arrested in Göttingen earlier this month over suspicions that they were plotting an imminent terror attack are no longer under investigation due to insufficient evidence, but they will still be deported.
State prosecutors said on Tuesday that though the two men had discussed attack plans, there was not enough evidence to support authorities initial suspicion that the men were preparing a serious crime against the state.
The Nigerian and Algerian citizens both in their 20s and born in Germany were arrested on February 9th in a police raid in the Lower Saxon university town, as well as in Hesse, that involved 450 officers at around a dozen buildings.

And the problem is?
Buh-bye
If they were born in America, they would be American citizens, right? Maybe we have it wrong, and the Germans are right on this.
By American standards this pair was not illegal. They were born in Germany itself, so you deport them to...where? Countries they’ve probably never even seen!
I have zero sympathy for either criminals or terrorists but we better carefully consider before such radical alterations to the social contract.

Many nations, Germany included, do not confer automatic citizenship based on just being born there. From Wikipedia:
one usually acquires German citizenship if a parent is a German citizen, irrespective of place of birth, or by birth in Germany to parents with foreign nationality if certain requirements are fulfilled. Naturalisation is also possible for foreign nationals after six to eight years of legal residence in Germany
German citizenship follows “bloodlines” only.
Exception is that one can become a German citizen if one shows more than 12 years of being connected to Germany. This is a exception which is rather difficult to obtain.
How can they be born in Germany and be Nigerian and Algerian citizens?
You have to ask?????

And the problem is?
The problem is Merkel has an election to win and needs to appear like she cares about stopping Islamic terrorism.
We have it wrong.
My taglineapplied to Germany?
Sounds like a plan to me !
I’d have to guess that Germany considers them to be citizens of whatever country their parents are from.
Ahhh yes..... there are thus no German anchor babies
Time to get it right.
Agree.

Neither does the U.S., but by a deliberate misreading of the 14th Amendment.
Now, if DT would just ‘clarify’ the same using an EO, I’d be ecstatic *wishful thinking, I know*
