A married army veteran has been arrested for plotting an ISIS style attack on Kansas City.
Robert Lorenzo Hester Jr., 25, from Columbia, Missouri, was taken into custody on Friday after meeting up with undercover FBI agents posing as terrorists who he'd been speaking to for months. They began watching him in August 2016 after being tipped off to social media accounts in which he described his hatred of the US and how he'd converted to Islam.
He had allegedly agreed to supply weapons and help organize a Presidents' Day terror attack at bus and train stations across Kansas City. Hester, who has two young children, told them how he wanted to 'overthrow' the US and 'hit it hard', the Justice Department said.
Police say that for months he exchanged text messages with agents describing how he wanted to start 'global jihad' and put together an attack '10 times' as deadly as the Boston marathon bombings.
On one occasion he had one of the agents round to his family home in Columbia, Missouri, where he gave him a bag full of materials to build a bomb, authorities said.
They also showed him rifles in the backs of their cars which they said they were planning to use in the attacks.
He was arrested on Friday afternoon after months of interaction with the undercover agents who said they honed in on him after being alerted to his Facebook posts by an informant.
Under four different Facebook names, he is said to have described his hatred of the US and how it should be 'overthrown'.
The father-of-two was arrested in October for throwing a knife through a store window during a rage-fueled fight with his wife.

Another example proving the problem isn’t race - it’s the political ideology disguised as a religion called islam. Islam is the common denominator in terrorism in every continent and infests every race. A temporary ban on visa from a handful of Middle East countries will do nothing to deal with the core problem - islam is incompatible with western democracy.

Well, the ‘authorities’ sure didn’t check the SNAP, SSI, unemployment, EITC, Section 8 voucher, etc.......I’d bet that he was on at least some of it with two small children, for sure..
Really tired of the media using military service as a primary identifier for the bad guys. One year and kicked out does not qualify you as a “Veteran”, in my opinion.

In this particular case, I think the problem was a very defective human being. I believe that if there was no Islam he would have been a bomb-throwing anarchist or exhibited some other destructive focus. But, Islam lends itself to anyone who wants to commit mayhem. People like Hester are similar to pyromaniacs. They have a burning fire inside and they want to leave it someplace.
I suppose we are lucky to have social media venues like Facebook where crazies can shout out their craziness for all to see and, hopefully, report. If he were truly an accolade of the evil Islam he would have quietly done the deeds and taken no credit and made no mentions anywhere. We live in a society that celebrates “diversity” including craziness, so people like Hester and suicide bombers are encouraged to tell us all about it. The real Islamist killers are “managed” and their craziness doesn’t hit the social networks until after they are safely used in their missions.
There is a very prominent mosque in Columbia. This mosque is the planning base to train their mass murders of the unarmed. OBL’s satellite phone came from a member and the FBI confiscated computers from the adjoining Islamic Peace center back in 2002. A moderate muslim member was also arrested for supplying money to Iraqi organizations involved in terrorism—he got 5 years and is now out to resume his “moderate” behavior. He had an astounding number of non-muslim supporters in the Columbia community—a Mr. Nice-guy he was.
Agreed, but many of these muslims join the army to learn tactics that only the U.S. Army can supply. I guarantee you, these guys were already muslim pigs before joining up.
I’m sure there is no bias in the media, but the KC Star headline was “Mo veteran plans ISIS terrorist attack” rather than “Muslim convert plans ISIS terrorist attack”. Hell, the guy was kicked out of the military with less than honorable discharge!
