Schumer: Dems Can Block Gorsuch, Effort to Repeal Obamacare
Breitbart.com ^ | 21 Feb 2017 | Pam Key

Tuesday on ABC’s “The View,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said the Democrats in the Senate have enough power to block President Donald Trump nominee for Supreme Court Justice, Judge Neil Gorsuch and the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

Schumer said, “They need 60 votes. And I believe — if Gorsuch keeps it up he’ll have a rough road to hoe to get those 60 on votes.”

When asked about the Democrats power, he added, “We have enough to block to Gorsuch … People ask, do the Democrats have power? Are we in charge? No which means we can’t set the agenda, McConnell can do that but we can block a lot of things. Like for instance, the Affordable Care Act which originally everyone wanted to get rid of it. Now when they see what they are getting, 20 million people covered, pre-existing conditions — a mom or dad has a kid with cancer the insurance companies said we’re not going to cover your kid has cancer.

It’s win/win for us.

If the Dems really do filibuster, and we don’t nuke it, we will in 2 years, when we have enough votes to FINALLY put an end to this obstructionism.

If the Dems do filibuster and we DO nuke it, then Trump’s future, and far more important (and conservative) nominees will sail through.

It the Dems let him go through (probably their best option), the Republicans will have a harder case for nuking the filibuster in the future, as the Dems showed ‘comity’ with Gorsuch. That doesn’t mean the Republicans will not later try to nuke it, but it will be harder...as the Dems will at least have something on their side to pull in Republicans.

Something is wrong with the Republicans in the Senate. Don't believe they will invoke the nuclear option. With nitwits like McCain and his boy Linzieeee it will probably never happen.

“We also should not be financing adults to grow families when they don’t work to pay for it.”

Not only that, but we should be encouraging people not to procreate prior to marriage, but not to remain childless after marriage.

But the only one who can keep a girl’s legs together is the girl, and now we’re talking (gasp) morality.

Then, too, you have to convince people to get married, and pressure them not to divorce. Morality again.

Not saying it can’t be done, but reestablishing morality as a good thing is going to take some effort.

I wouldn't even call this bluffing, as Schumer is surely not trying to convince anyone that matters (Mitch McConnell) that he actually believes what he is saying here.

It's nothing but grandstanding for the mindless base.

Mayan is the worst. Remember that she was criticized by the Supreme Court for her conduct in representing the Obama administration.

If Gorsuch keeps WHAT up?

We need to be smart and refer to the rule change as the “Reid rule”. Throw it back in liberal faces every day like this. Given the genetic inarticulate spineless nature of most Republican Senators, referring to this as the “Reid rule” make things easier.

The fact that the GOP hasn’t done it yet (gone Nuclear on the Fillibuster Rule) indicates to me that

1) the consensus for now is that they’d rather not do it,
2) possibly John McCain & Lindsay Graham are wildcards when it comes to a rule-change vote.
3) Because of 1 & 2 the strategy is to let the Dems ‘overplay’ their weak hand, and if it looks like Gorsuch does not have 60 votes, THEN drop the hammer.

Don’t forget that the Democrats have to worry about the next Trump nominee to the USSC. This one doesn’t tip the ideological balance, but the next one likely will. If the Dems go full-out on Gorsuch, they lose the fillibuster now and the next nominee slides through.

As for Obamacare — it’s already dead. The IRS rule that requires the taxpayer to reveal whether they have had coverage over the previous 12 months (or face a penalty) has been removed. No penalties, no subsidies. Collapse in a matter of months as people drop when the full-premiums come due.

There it is. The ONLY avenue since the Democrats have all gone insane. There is no debating insane opposition. It's like trying to renew you driver's license in 7-11 with Achmed behind the counter.
