An unseasonably warm Presidents Day holiday weekend saw at least 37 people shot across the city, leaving five dead, according to Chicago Police.(snip)

Just before 3 a.m. Saturday in the same neighborhood, officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 5000 block of South Ashland found 23-year-old Willie Cooks in a building with a gunshot wound to his back, authorities said. Cooks, of the Roseland neighborhood, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3 a.m. (snip)
At 6:23 p.m. Friday, 31-year-old Travis Joseph was on a porch (snip) when another male walked up, pulled out a weapon and opened fire, authorities said. Joseph was shot in the chest and taken to Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:11 a.m. (snip)
One 13-year-old boy (snip) was standing outside in the 7600 block of South Peoria when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said. (snip)
Another 13-year-old boy was walking with a 16-year-old boy about 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 5100 block of West Concord in Austin when the pair heard gunfire and realized they’d both been shot, police said. (snip)
At least 25 more people were wounded in Chicago shootings between 7:30 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday.

Imagine if this carnage was going on in the hometown of a Republican president. And the mayor of the city was also a Republican. There would be saturation news coverage by the MSM and charges of neglect and racism. Just like the media did to Bush during Hurricane Katrina.

And while they don’t say this, I’m sure the vast majority of these are black on black shootings.
The media who make race an issue in shootings such as Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, ignore the racial aspect here.
Just based on the addresses listed here, it appears that these shootings happened in the bad neighborhoods which are mostly black areas of Chicago.
I read somewhere that Chicago is fairly safe among big cities, when you get outside of the bad neighborhoods.
That’s an ongoing issue right there, regarding how it is, that the youth gangs lay waste to vast areas of some major cities, and seemingly are “in charge”, and do God knows what in the streets, without consequences to the perpetrators.
