Psychiatrists debate on whether or not Donald Trump is mentally ill
Pulse / NY Times ^ | February 19, 2017 | Maria Fernanda Guanipa

Posted on 02/20/2017 7:17:11 AM PST by Zakeet

On Tuesday, American psychiatrists, psychologist, and mental health experts signed a letter warning about Trump's mental health. They believe that Trumps' emotional instability is reflected in his speeches and actions, and therefore he is not capable of serving safely as a president.

A lot of people have questioned President Trump' mental health. The concern has even gotten to the Congress, where representatives have considered proposing legislation that would require a psychiatrist in the White House. As well, NGOs, such as Change.org, have started petitions to remove Trump from the office given his mental condition.

[Snip]

Trump is a narcissist and a paranoid

Despite the self-imposed ethic rules that forbids psychiatrists from offering professional opinion regarding public figures they have not personally analyzed, a group of mental health experts - including psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers - have gotten together to sign the letter, which intended to warn about the viability of Trump as a president because of his apparent mental health problems. The experts also called for a full medical and neuropsychiatric evaluation by impartial investigators.

This is not the first time that Trump's mental stability has been put into question.

Hmmm, the profession that attracts many nuts because it’s their sanity adventure? The profession that says guys humping guys is okey doke? The profression that’s drugging America’s boys for being boys on corn syrup? The profession that makes doctors ask if you have guns? That profession is passing judgement on a very sane President Trump?

Firstly, are any Liberals NOT mentally disturbed?

Secondly, these Trump haters must have REALLY hated Obama and Clinton, since Obama and Clinton were miles more mentally disturbed.

BTW, re. mental health ‘professionals’, I knew a person who could not hold the marriage together; never had kids; got a large dog and a lesbian lover; decided that God was a “She”; legally killed her mother to get an earlier inheritance via elder abuse; submitted doctored documents in a court case (fraud); and became a family therapy mental health professional....would you trust this person to provide family therapy to you?

No shrink who has ever voted Dem should be allowed to pass judgement on any person of note, since Dems are the motherlode of lies, distortions and fake news/truth.

Ask for a refund if your therapist’s name is on the list. A bunch of FAKE PSYCHS lying to keep their gravy train.

That signature list could be a career killer.

If these mental midget practitioners would stop being liberals for one second they would see they would have a bonanza on their hands. The Trump presidency has made millions of already unhinged lefties even more crazy. What a goldmine they have on their hands with all the hours of counseling and therapy they could charge, but alas liberalism TRUMPS everything in a lefty’s life.

Remember all the BS about Reagan being senile and GW Bush being a "dry drunk"? Seems that the shrinks only come out of their closets when a republican is in the whitehouse.

Never heard a comment about klintoon being a sexual predator or obummer being narcissist.

Sadly, sanity is no longer an objective condition, at least according to leftists. They call the insane sane and the sane insane, primarily because they’re not sane themselves.

This is why psychiatry/psychology is generally a fake profession. It’s far too relativistic to give them any credence.

there is also an ethics rule against this style of diagnosis.

The list should have their licenses pulled.

This is an old ussr trick. those that oppose communism are insane because communism says so.

Not a bad idea.

If I knew which psychologists were involved, I would make a complaint to the APA. (I am a psychologist, but no longer support the APA).

Social Actions folks tend to be females and minorities because they have "issues" and they "work them out" by screwing White men.

Psychiatrists have a high suicide rate because many with mental health problems gravitate to the field.... Shrink, heal thyself before you screw with others.....

She wasn’t actually kicked out by the APA. THey had a riff but they never kicked her out and she later spoke at an APA conference. But the issue at the time was “the patient speaks and the psychologist listens” and so the APA conflicted with her public appearances where she would talk to a silent audience.
Using one’s credentials as a psychologist to attack a sitting president is clearly loathsome and no comparison to what Brothers was accused of doing.
The press used to say Bush was insane and an idiot and I remember laughing through a funny rebuttal basically asking the press, “so you are being beaten by an insane, incompetent idiot? How does that make you look?”

It is people on the left that are having the nervous breakdown.

These leftist “experts” are projecting their own instability upon President Trump. Liberals always project their own hate and fear - insanity - upon the normal.

In the Soviet Union anyone taking on the Establishment was deemed mentally ill. These people are fascists.

Exactly. And contrast it with the media people who lost their jobs for mentioning that Hillary may have had a seizure. On camera she had at least 5 myoclonic seizures and no one ever wondered in media if she was fit. Riiiight, it was an attack of the flu, over within an hour.

I was just about to post that psychiatry was a bunch of horse manure but you said basically the same thing, only nicer.

Since I'm not a psychiatrist, psychologist, or a health practitioner of any sort I'm sending you the information regarding the agitprop letter:

Here is the letter with the signers online:
http://www.lancedodes.com/new-york-times-letter Here is the text of the letter:

To The Editors of the New York Times
To the Editor:

Charles M. Blow (column, nytimes.com, Feb. 9) describes Donald Trump’s constant need “to grind the opposition underfoot.” As mental health professionals, we share Mr. Blow’s concern.

Silence from the country’s mental health organizations has been due to a self-imposed dictum about evaluating public figures (the American Psychiatric Association’s 1973 Goldwater Rule). But this silence has resulted in a failure to lend our expertise to worried journalists and members of Congress at this critical time. We fear that too much is at stake to be silent any longer.

Mr. Trump’s speech and actions demonstrate an inability to tolerate views different from his own, leading to rage reactions. His words and behavior suggest a profound inability to empathize. Individuals with these traits distort reality to suit their psychological state, attacking facts and those who convey them (journalists, scientists).

In a powerful leader, these attacks are likely to increase, as his myth of greatness appears to be confirmed. We believe that the grave emotional instability indicated by Mr. Trump’s speech and actions makes him incapable of serving safely as president.
