AP should have stated that Trump was not in the motorcade. They lead us to believe he was. In a snarky way.

A 2x4 across their behind might make them think about not doing this again. Public flogging would be nice.

Back about when we were 10 or 11 President Nixon was scheduled to pass on NY 27. My cousin decide to test the effectiveness of the SS by “hiding in a bush with a BB gun”. The official schedule changed and cuz never got the opportunity to test the presidents security coverage...

Thank-you for that.

Seven years ago I was losing my mind having to deal with my son in a suburban public high school that was a combination of a zoo, prison and circus. Police presence, daily fights, disruptive unruly kids, and teachers and staff who had morphed into prison guards.

One day while working about 30 miles out in to the country I stopped at rural high school where a friend of mine taught.

The contrast between the two schools made me feel like I had traveled through a time-warp to the 1970’s. The kids were polite, “yes sir/no mam”, made eye contact, and overall well behaved.

The difference in the atmosphere between the two schools was shocking.

"Arrest the parents and teachers also. Try these monsters as adults."
Maybe we should round up all the students from the school? Let's go after the Grandparents as well, it's probably multi-generational....
Do you realize how ridiculous all that sounds....

I am a conservative teacher at a small rural public school

That describes my upbringing and early education.
When the 3Rs were rigorous, classrooms were relatively quiet because the staff didn't take any crap, and the assistant principal had a paddle hanging on the wall to enforce it.

Want to bet on immigration status of these little “dreamers.”

West Palm Beach? I've been there and my money says natural born citizens.

FWIW, here's a pic of the 2x4 they threw.

LOL .. ours weren't signed, but there were three or four of 'em hanging up there - two with 'speed holes' and two without !

Thing is, with the perspective of time, that AP was a true gem .. Mr. Claude Rhodes (RIP) .. he'll live in memories til all of us who knew him are gone.

Where on NY-27? I grew up about two blocks from NY-27 in Queens, where it was the Belt Parkway, near the intersection with Farmers Boulevard.

Ridiculous? Aren’t they all responsible for the little monsters behavior? When “teachers” preach hatred in the classroom and “parents” preach hatred in the home, aren’t they as complicit as the perpetrators?

Actions have consequences, shouldn’t they?

Actions are accountable but if you can’t recognize the over-reaching absurbity in your statement then we don’t have the basis for debate....

Our coach had 1 with 10 holes in it... could sign that one, but thankfully I never got around to that one. He gave me the creeps, sat on a chair watching while we showered (he didn’t look anything like a fag, but back then, in our small community, we didn’t know much of fags..).

On the other hand, one of my most hated teachers, my history teacher in Jr High (btw, what is up with them renaming them to “middle school”?), took me out in the hall for a well diserved spanking in the 8th grade (I was spit-balling a girl who had a crush on on me who I had no interest in >.<) took me into the hall to give me well deserved 3 licks.. His paddle was 2 feet long by 1 inch deep by 2 inches in width (white oak).. He broke it on the first swing.. and I was spared the last 2.. I couldn’t sit correctly for at least 3 days... BUT, I deserved it :p

Later, he changed to High School History teacher in my school.. and he became my favorite teacher, and history became my favorite subject. (I got serious in high school).

This is not surprising.

I lived right next door to a middle school in Arizona for 30 years. We experienced middle school kids vandalizing our neighborhood, breaking and entering robberies, doing drugs and smoking over the school fence in our neighborhood and the use of profanity-laced anger and diatribes directed to the neighbors when asked to leave. Some students were arrested for vandalizing property and theft. But in general, the school authorities and police were of little or no help unless we had specific names or photos.

Middle school kids are at an age where they try to expand their independence, most before they are mature enough to understand the ramifications of their actions. Poor parenting is part of it. Lax school authority is another. Additionally, the Ninth Circus Court of Appeals made policing and parental control difficult because their sided with the kids and not the authority figures in their rulings.

But the fact that junior high kids are the ones behind the object thrown at the president's motorcade, is not surprising to anyone who is familiar with what many middle school kids are like in this culture today.

It sounds like a cliche, but kids today simply won't believe these stories of ours .. completely outside their experience bubbles.
Who'd have thought, back then, that things would change so fundamentally/drastically in such a relatively short time  :-\

Unfortunately, my junior high/high school story is about the opposite of yours.
Was a true Boy Scout in JH, but as the country started goin' to hell in the late 60s, it managed to drag me along with it for awhile.
Somehow survived the entire secondary process with high grades, but instead of geophysics or surgery, I ended up a carpenter for 35 years.

And what a long strange trip it's been . . .

/tmi, prolly
