A dozen workers at a Catoosa restaurant are without a job today after getting fired for skipping work as a show of support for “A Day Without Immigrants.”
The restaurant workers are all Hispanic and they say it was important to them to participate in the national protest.
But they didn’t think it would cost them their jobs.
“They feel like they’ve been unfairly terminated," said a friend, translating for the employees.
The group worked at “I Don’t Care” Bar and Grill in Catoosa. They talked to us after they were fired for not showing up to work. They asked us to not show their faces or give their names.
“(They’ve) been working there for almost two years since the restaurant opened," said the friend.
The group willingly chose to stay home with others across the country supporting “A Day Without Immigrants.”
“(They’re) upset they stood for something they felt was necessary so the community would stand together, and they got terminated for that," said the friend,
The six are a part of a group of 12 kitchen staff let go.
The owner fired them by text message.
A message to one of the employees reads: "You and your family are fired. I hope you enjoyed your day off, and you can enjoy many more. Love you.”

No word in the article on whether they were illegals or not.
It appears that Friday turned out to be “A Day Without A Job” for a lot of these so called “immigrants”.
Robot replacements don’t strike.. or protest.

I taught my kid how to make pancakes, pasta and how to fry an egg when he was a wee lad, I was churning butter when I was 4
I know someone that worked in a national chain restaurant a few years ago. An illegal live-in of one of the employees got pulled over for speeding. The employee bragged about him digging through his multiple ID’s to get the one that would work for the policeman. He only got a warning.
I believe most....if not all of the illegals have multiple ID’s. They use one to get welfare/foodstamps, free medical, free phones and free housing. (If they had to pay for these living expenses they would not enough money left to send back home.)
They use another fake ID to get a factory/construction or whatever kind of well paying job. They falsify how many children they have to get a huge tax refund.
IMO, the IRS is behind encouraging and covering up most of the Illegal’s fraud.

If they were illegal ICE needs to pay a little visit to the owner and shut it down. Until extreme penalties are enacted for hiring illegals they will still keep coming.

That was a major revelation, right there. This employer needs to be investigated.
It’s not uncommon among employers who hire illegals, to get multiple employees for the price of one.
The employer simply loads the one with way too much work for one person to handle in the alotted time, knowing the illegal won’t complain. These folks come from very frugal agrarian cultures where families customarily work together anyway.
Then when the one illegal starts bringing the entire family to work, including a bunch of children, the employer pretends not to notice they’re there, or that he’s not paying them.
I knew about a printing company where there were two non-English speaking adult males running the presses. This was a skill that normally commanded $20 per hour, yet they were paid below minimum wage.
Plus, their wives and five children were bundling, stacking, and loading papers onto trucks for zero pay.
The restaurant loves thems some illegals, as long as they show up for work.
Actions have consequences Jose. Now get out of our country.
