It appears as though Ford is no longer on the Trump bandwagon as the American automaker is backing off of its pledge to cancel the its plans for building a plant in Mexico.

I am thinking that instead of a tariff, a higher income tax for the company on sales of cars that aren’t made in the USA. I also think that any remittances to Mexico should get hit with a tax.
Honda Odessey is built in Tennessee, IIRC.
I feel evil because I have a seething, deep rooted envy and jealousy and a coveting right now of biblical proportions :)
You’re the man. Holy ####. I ####ing die just looking at it.
I can’t touch it. I can even go to 35k. Maybe a LITTLE past that.
But I can’t touch that car. God bless!!! :)
460..Geez.
my ‘94 =z28 convertible black in/out had 8 cylinder and 300 hp.
I LOVED that car.
I’d KILL for yours :)
Is that something to do with the witch?
I still love the car. Although I might think twice for the next one.
Really !
The wife’s Prius lease is up and we were looking at the Fusion since they seemed to be playing ball with the President.
Oh well, we’ll keep looking.
I’ll share pics once I get it. I’ll make videos and likely put them on Youtube.
It is my dream car. I’ve always wanted a Corvette, but I had too many other things that had to stay a priority. I am 68, my kids are grown, we recently finished remodeling our house..two long years. I moved our finances around and begged “yes dear”, she gave me the okay. ;>)
This will likely be the last car I will buy in this life, so I figured that I might as well get my dream car.
Thanks for being excited for me.
Last November we picked up a Toyota Highlander for the wife - very nice vehicle.
you are my hero getting this car. I think it is awesome. And you just helped me decide what car I am going to get it 48. I thought I was pigeonholed into a certain type of Car. My brother who is 60 said that was absurd and he wanted a jaguar. He and you are right. We will be in touch. You are now my mentor :) I can’t can’t can’t wait to see the picture of the car.
You're only as old as you feel dp. Go for the Camaro and relive your youth, while you are still young enough to actually enjoy it.. 8>) I had a 2011 2SS Camaro that I traded in for my 2013 Grand Sport Corvette convertible. Then buy yourself a cheap inexpensive reliable car, like a Nissan, to do your daily driving in. Then enjoy your Camaro when it is your time to just have a fun outing with the wife & kids, or even honey do errands.
I’m with you.
I run a one ton high Country duramax one ton for work. Nobody else can even compete with it. Power, comfort, fuel mileage etc. I’ve had over 33mpg on highway, and that was in Mountains with over 2,000 lbs in the bed.
As a disclaimer, I’m deleted and tuned a bit, but stock parts and four inch lift. I work in rough areas. A four cylinder can often not even match my fuel mileage heh.
I like Toyota too, but they shelved their one ton diesel plans.
Some here would say it does.
They never said they weren’t going to build the Mexican factory. The deal was they weren’t going to move all the jobs originally planned to it.
There is a misunderstanding here
The Ford Mexico plant will not build cars for the USA. The plant will be to build small cars for export to Africa and central America and other third world places
You have a GRAND SPORT!!!???
Another FReeper is planning on ordering one in a month and a half.
I’d leave my wife for a Grand Sport!! Or a hamburger :) jk
If you have pics send please!!
If you knew my Dad, you would agree with me 100% that he should NOT be on the road - and shouldn’t have been past about 70 with his failing eyesight. Stubborn old Kraut!
And, THAT was who we were talking about, SPECIFICALLY. I was NOT making a generalization about those 80 and over. :)
Good morning. My goodness, when do you sleep?
If you dream it and you work to achieve it, it will someday be yours....well, with some good luck and Gods blessings.
As I have told my adult kids, I’d rather die with too many fulfilled dreams than too many regrets. As for age, my wife tells me I see life through the eyes of a 5 year old. She is probably right and that may very well be one of the reasons I am still alive. ;>)
I work overnight and it gets kind o slow sometimes and I only sleep about 5 hours. :)
Due to the 10 year old head injury i get dizzy for periods of time so i’m stuck on the couch at those times. Thank God for FR!!
100x better than original incident :)
I WILL own the car of my dreams one day.
I Love your quote about dreams.
Keep at it, you’ll get there.
Then theyll get faced with 35% to send the parts over the border again.
Everyone knew the deal.
Besides, Ford apparently has had a presence in MX for .. 90 years ? Wow.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I read somewhere that the cars that factory are to make, are only sold in Mexico and Central America. Don’t know if that’s true. If it is, that puts a bit of a different face on things, but then, why did they agree to build them here in the first place? As usual, I don’t think we’re getting the whole story. Maybe the criminals have the head of Ford Mexico’s wife and kids, or something. (As long as we’ve only got suppositions to go on, might as well go all out).
and Africa.
There was a long piece in Forbes in ‘16 describing the tremendous growth of the auto manufacturing in Mexico. Everybody has set up shop there making cars because of the infra structure and logistics developed to support auto exports
